There are several paths to victory.

Assuming we don't have a domestic terror event that ZERO uses to by Executive Order: Federalize all law enforcement, Suspend the Constitution, Disband Congress, and declare himself President for Life all in the name of National Security.

Palin is a disaster as a candidate and would get absolutely creamed in a general election.

She cannot win and will guarantee Obama another 4 years. Just as Angle could not win, just as O’Donnell could not win, just as Miller will not win.

At some point, we have to understand that even though we all love ultra conservatives, we should want to defeat lunatic liberals like Obama. Palin cannot beat him. I’m more than happy to take a slightly less conservative Republican that will win then a great conservative like Sarah (who I love) who not only can’t win, but guarantees further destruction by Obama.

For some reason, all too many people here don’t get this in their efforts to “cleanse” the GOP. At the end of the day, you can’t cleanse anything if liberals are running around in charge and in power.

I also think NH could return to the GOP in 2012.

Playing around with the 2012 projected votes and the 2008 results yields an amusing case. If the GOP flips CO, FL, IN, NC, VA, OH, and the one vote in NE, and the Dims flip WV, it ends in a 269 tie. In this case the Dims would likely have the popular vote... can anyone picture the GOP Congress voting against the media portraying things as unfair?

another thing to think about is romney walking away with it.
Barbour and Palin split the conservative vote with the help of the huckster...scary thought. Romney mught even pick his running mate during the primaries! He has the org...solid campagin staff that did a good job last time.

note to the huckster cult: this is NOT an endoresement of Romney!

I think its necessary to remember that only half of the people who fear a Palin presidency are liberals. “Blue blood” Republicans fear and oppose her as well. I think that Palin has enough grassroots support to win the primaries but I would put it past some institutional GOP’ers to run an “independent” in the General Election (ala Murkowski} to bleed off votes and assure an Obama victory.

Many in the GOP are satisfied resisting Obama rather then defeating Obama. Big govt programs and earmarks that they want they can blame on Obama while whipping up support for themselves as the opposition!

Okay, I read the thread, and what I see is a collection of posters who at worst are RINOs, and who at best are conservatives who seem to be afraid of the media, and their own conservative shadows.

It seems to me that there are still a good number of posters who think that the liberal media is still king, that Obama is still liked, that polls can't be corrupted, and that we are some how still stuck back in the nineties when our candidates were captives of the liberal media.

Open your eyes folks. Times are changing. Let Palin run. Let her get her message out There is absolutely nothing radical about her message and there is absolutely nothing strange about her persona.

She would run on common sense ideas. She would run on originalist ideas. Most Americans support those ideas, most Americans don't support the freakish Marxist in Chief, most Americans don't trust the media, and most Americans are plugged into alternative information sources. Certainly a majority of folks in North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Indiana and Ohio are no longer supporters of the freakish Marxist, Barack Hussein Obama.

Look, if you think there are other good candidates out there in the shadows, then fine, but that raises two questions.

Why has that alternative "good" candidate not been out there fighting everyday over the last two years while our country is being destroyed?

Why make your decision for that other candidate and/or against Palin this early in the election cycle?

I haven't.
