I see that no one has started a Christmas Cookie thread...so I will!
I start my Holiday Baking with Dear Old Mom this upcoming Thursday. It's always SO much fun! It's Mom, me, usually my sister (but she can't make it this year), our 'Cherished Grandma Hazel' and a few assorted family friends. (You truly DO have to be on the A-List to attend, LOL!) Mom has a huge kitchen and two ovens, so we all descend upon her house for a day of baking & candy making.
We break for a simple lunch (and usually an Old Fashioned or two!) but when all is done the cookies (usually 24 or so things to choose from) are piled on the (covered) pool table and we walk around and fill our tins and we're DONE! Amen!
So...what's your favorite/traditional Christmas Cookie? And why? And recipes, please!
Perfect! I never thought to add blueberries to oatmeal cookies. Yum! :)
I have never tried peanut butter spritz - I’ll look around for a recipe and check with my Mom. :)
I hate it when you lose a recipe! One year Mom & I made these Eggnog Logs...and we’ve never been able to find the recipe again. They were similar to what you stated, but they had this eggnog frosting that was OUT of this world!
I’m on a MISSION now, LOL!
“the shoebox was actually from a pair of size 13 construction boots, so there was plenty of room for stuff.”
Those shoe boxes from men’s boots are THE BEST.
Now, you can see what kind of a cook I am when this is my contribution to the cookie thread!
Yeah. My tagline will be back - but these days I’m in a ‘post-Apocalyptic’ kind of mood, LOL!
Bump for Mint Chocolate Logs!
Mmmmm Old Fashioned.
Oh & the cookies sound good too!
Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies. They look exactly like the ones my mom use to bake. THanks...
Here’s a recipe calling for sour cream in the Molasses Cookies. Never heard of that before. :)

Thanks.

Yes, GF cooking can be hard. Luckily many stores have started to carry GF products and mixes. And yes, GF homemade food does not have the same sort of shelf life as regular food. Our homemade GF bread tends to get stale and crumbly a little faster than regular bread...I guess it is the difference in flours. I don’t know about the cookies though; ours never last very long in this household of seven! :)
BUmp till when the cookier recipe box comes out. Looks good Liz. May have to try that one.
BUMP to let you know my rinky-dink DSL is down again. Carry on! I’ll be back ASAP.
