It’s on the arthouse circuit. 8 million with less than 400 theaters is pretty good. It’ll probably turn a profit, arthouse movies are different, they don’t rely on the big opener, they rely on the long burn while slowly moving around the country, it probably won’t even hit places like Tucson until March.
Does that still hold true? Or will they rely on DVD sales and liberal cable giants such as HBO plugging it constantly?
“8 million with less than 400 theaters is pretty good.”
No, it isn’t. It’s true that art houses don’t rely on a big opening weekend, but they do rely on a steady build — and this movie isn’t building.
It needs to make fifty-four million to go into profit. They might eke it out eventually on Pay Per View, cable, and DVD... but it will be several years.
It’s another big lefty flop the only avenue left to make a dime is for all the lefty Pubic Librarians to buy a couple of copies.
