mernilio writes

"According to UPI: 'A Massachusetts school district superintendent said a memo banning sixth graders from carrying pencils was written without district approval. North Brookfield School District interim Superintendent Gordon Noseworthy said Wendy Scott, one of two sixth-grade teachers at North Brookfield Elementary School, did not get approval from administrators before sending the memo to all sixth-grade parents, the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reported Thursday. The memo said students would no longer be allowed to bring writing implements to school. It said pencils would be provided for students in class and any students caught with pencils or pens after Nov. 15 would face disciplinary action for having materials 'to build weapons.'"

My favorite crayon color is “flesh.”

My color box has 64 different shades of ‘flesh’ for any ‘race’ that I may encounter.

Pretty soon anyone not chained to a desk except to pee will be considered a potential murderer or terrorist.

This is just where I saw public schools going. They are becoming prisons. Getting kids used to being treated like prisoners. Getting kids used to being forced to follow the most stupid rules ever thought up because the “government authorities” tell you to obey.

Get your kids out of public schools now. Train them with biblical discipline. Common sense discipline. Rules that have good reasons behind them rather than rules that assume they are criminals if they are not ‘complying’.

In high school we used to throw our pencils up into the ceiling tiles to try to make them stick. It was not as easy as you think. This was a tradition that went on for generations and there were thousands of pencil-sized holes in the ceiling.

So I guess that “for safety” we will only be able to use crayons from now on?

And By God, they'd better stay within the lines!

I wonder if he’ll authorize quill pens?

Nope. Don't forget, possession of feathers of birds of prey is a Federal Offense.

I think goose and turkey feathers were also used, I don’t think those are birds of prey, however turkey feathers would probably be banned because on thanksgiving and Christmast most people pray over the roast turkey.

Well, the students should be forced to wear quilted mittens, then.

"Paper clips launched from a rubber band can be deadly as well. Ban them all.

I did that once or twice. Well, maybe more than twice.

In other news, any teacher or administrator caught in possession of a working brain will be prosecuted for theft, since it obviously belongs to someone else.

Post of the Day!

I heard about the school that banned mehanical pencils, and pens and said they would issue the students #2 pencils the next Monday. Is this the same school?

I hope all of us pointing out on that first thread that we were stabbed with good old-fashioned wooden pencils in school didn’t contribute to this silliness... I’d hate to give them ideas.

I too, am very thankful that we get the choice to home-school as well. God bless you & yours! Have a Happy Thanksgiving. :)

“In high school we used to throw our pencils up into the ceiling tiles to try to make them stick. It was not as easy as you think.” The boys’ division of our class used rubber bands and had no trouble (according to them) making the pencils stick. Maybe they were lying to impress the girls’ division, though.
