losing can sometimes be the best prize. Bristol Palin was a good loser, leaving Dancing with the Stars as a gracious lady. I hope she remembers the pride she felt when she reached so far out of her comfort zone and did so well. I hope that she doesn't turn into another media blitzed wild child.

I watched DWTS for the first time just to keep up with Bristol and vote for her. I am glad she was kept in till the end because she improved greatly week to week and demonstrated her ability to learn quickly and to persevere at a daunting task. Grey was obviously begging for a sympathy vote and I had a hard time watching the fake pity me expressions. I was surprised at the open bias of the judges favoring Grey and their fawning and pandering to her. They gave her a ten more often than she earned and gave Bristol eights to offset her high call in votes. Politics is politics the world over. Good show for Bristol and I wish her well for the future.
Excuse my post. I needed to read further.
classy gal from classy family!
You are quite correct that the Korean Peninsula is much more important than Dancing with the Stars. However, this show is a diversion from all the news of war, nuclear proliferation, and the toll taken by natural disasters, etc. God knows we need diversions at such times. By the way, to come in third in this competition when having no dance experience at all is not shabby. Good job, Bristol.
Happy Thanksgiving all!
Sorry, didn't watch DWTS. I just heard about it this morning. As for confederate heroes, which ones am I supposed to be blasting?
For those who are concerned that it wasn’t fair because some contestants had more dancing experience, is it fair that Bristol was 19-20 while Jennifer is 50 with a partially torn knee tendon and a plate in her neck? DWTS also mixes 80 year olds with 20 year olds, is that fair?
Jennifer was the best or one of the best dancers every week on DWTS. A quick look at her filmography seems to show that most of her roles were non dancing. “Dirty Dancing” was 23 years ago.
DWTS also promotes parent company Disney shows/people - Kyle Massey, Billy Ray Cyrus, one of the Cheetah Girls and others - and they seem to last for weeks on the show.
Bristol was better than show biz types Margaret Cho and Michael Bolton, but she was not better than Kurt Warner or Rick Fox, who weren’t dancers either. Was that fair to them?
And those who think all the dancers should be amateurs. Right, the audience for that would last as long as one for amateur football games.
I didn’t watch DWTS the first couple of years and I was shocked at the quality of the performances when I finally did watch it. The level of dancing on DWTS is very high - good enough for Broadway or Vegas.
Now I watch sporadically with emphasis on the last month or so. The only season (they have 2 seasons a year) I skipped was when Maks wasn’t dancing :-).
The Palins seem to be normal, decent, honest people, just like the best neighbors I've ever had. Sarah clearly expected criticism when she accepted the VP nomination but had no idea how vicious and unfair it would be from the very start. Despite that obvious warning, I suspect that Bristol made the very same mistake, assuming that people with different views from her mother would behave decently despite those differences. There is a big difference between expecting the same intrusive treatment as everyone else in the public arena and being prepared for what the Palins get every time they are discussed.
\ Or sextuple speak?
i heard it on alan colmes but who gives a flipping if she said it its a fact the left hates her why? because she’s a palin now how sick is that
They'll just find another conservative to go gunning after... Same with the networks. Conservatives need to stay OFF liberal networks.
And an unlikable, whining b*tch.
Plain and simple. She starred in a movie called, "Dirty Dancing". DUH.
As if that wasn't enough, Derek Hough is DWTS' best dance partner.
I read Non-Sequiter’s link. - So, welp, that settles it then. I’ll hafta vote fer MITT. /s
Oh my goodness
Oh my goodness
True, when someone enters a more public life, they are bound to attract all sorts of feedback, positive and negative, gentle and crude. There are laws about defamation, and there are different rules for public figures. That's the law.
That being said, just because someone decides to participate on a TV show doesn't mean he/she should just take crap from anyone. She has a right to defend herself, of course, but he/she should do so wisely in appropriate ways and forums, as the responses are subject to public scrutiny and comment, also.
It was a dancing competition not a venue to payback political enemies.
It was a dancing competition until Bristol made it to the finals, and then the media made it political when it went into a frenzy campaign against her. For the entire week, the attacks on Bristol and the accusations of a tea party conspiracy (without a shred of evidence to back it up) were in the news. Some in the liberal media even went digging deep into her sister's facebook postings looking for dirt, which was publicized with the purpose of destroying Bristol.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to recognize the brutal media campaign against her during the final week of the competition with the goal of damaging her chances of winning.
Perhaps Bristol might have though that the show would afford her the same discretion they afforded other contenders when they spouted the F word on camera. Brandy using the F word comes to mind, and even her partner told her there is no need for that! Also, Jennifer said the F word and no one in the media reported prominently, though I and all those watching heard her.
Middle finger is a nicer way of saying the F word, though I imagine how the haters might feel bothered by it.

Well stated.
On top of all the desperate blitzkreig of the Left were the threats on Bristol and her partners' lives. The left merely yawned and snickered.
The attacks by the media and their sympathizers are insane. They started by making this political, and turning this young woman into some kind of public enemy is a sickening display of liberalism.
