Wow! A BC team actually beat a SEC team?
Thanks for the post, all this time I accepted the long standing axiom that North Eastern football teams were elective jaded trust fop cliques playing real teams for the physical male contact they didn't get from too busy progressive poppy.
So Boston had men back in 1940...whoduhthunkit?

UCONN certainly stomped OUR butts last year.UConn is another NE team, so that doesn't prove or disprove the manliness of Mass/Conn players.

My mistake, Fiji. The Trojans have a bye week.

It should be noted, that in 1940, certain players were not welcome on SEC teams.

Guess Auburn could’ve used Cam Newton.

It should be noted, that in 1940, certain players were not welcome on SEC teams. Next week, in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, UCLA's offense will feature a couple of players who would probably not be welcome in the SEC: tailback Kenny Washington and wingback Jackie Robinson. Last year, those two put up quite a fight against USC, holding the high-flying Trojans to a 0-0 tie. This year, they'll be licking their chops as they face a far weaker Trojan squad.
Fight on!

I was glad to see the Domers lose to the Northwestern Wildcats out in Chicago. In a couple of weeks, they'll be out here in the Coliseum to play the Trojans.
Fight on!

I had forgotten that Robinson was a pretty good football player before he became a Bum.

I had forgotten that Robinson was a pretty good football player before he became a Bum. The year before Robinson became a Bum, Kenny "Kingfish" Washington made history in a similar way by becoming a Los Angeles Ram.
Interestingly, Robinson and Washington were outspoken Republicans, although Robinson was one of the Dewey-Rockefeller variety and had no use for conservatives such as Goldwater.
On the last day of his campaign for the Senate in 1950, Rep. Richard Nixon (R-Calif.) paid a visit to Washington at his home in Los Angeles.

This may have my first year as a Husker fan. I”ll have to ask my brother when the Silvertone radio showed up on the farm. If it was there at that time, I am sure that Mother would have been listening to Llyle Bremser http://www.huskerpedia.com/lyell/sound.wav (then in his second season at KFAB) while doing the Saturday baking of half the week’s supply of bread.

Probably why they got beat.
My High School wasn't fully integrated until 1969 and that was the first year we had a half-way decent football team.
Sports enthusiasts across the nation were the first and most authentic Civil Rights advocates.
They wanted to see the best versus the best and to heck with their superfluous biological or social backgrounds.

Ill have to ask my brother when the Silvertone radio showed up on the farm I attend all USC home games at the Coliseum, but I love to listen to away games on my 1937 Delco floor model radio. It has a big and pleasant sound.
To: Homer_J_Simpson
The high-flying Stanford Indians had a bye this week, but next week, they will crossing the bay to play Cal at Memorial—the Big Game. The Farm could be looking at a national championship should it prevail over the Golden Bears.

It’s good to see another “I” link in the Bucket chain. That 3-0 Hoosier win in steady cold rain must have been a real fun game to attend, but that’s not uncommon Old Oaken Bucket weather. I’ve frozen at Bucket games, and been drenched in downpours. Occasionally, you get that fluke sunny warm day when the weather in Bloomington reaches 60 degrees (but that never happens in West Lafayette where the weather always sucks). What seems to not change is 3 “P” links to every “I” link. We’ll see what happens this year.
