Vanity ^ | 11/24/2010 | Patrick1

Sarah Palin seems to be the favorite of the majority of Free Republic members. I still have not made up my mind about her. But if she is the consevative movement's choice to take on the disaster of Obama who has gone from The Messiah to the Mess then there are things that she will need to overcome to get 50% plus one of the American people's vote in 2012. I've listed the ones I hope her supporters can address here because failure to take these issues on will result in certain defeat.

Bush I. He won as Reagan. He lost after he washed off the Reagan sheen and became Bobdole McCain.

Romney left his state with RomneyCare which all by itself would bankrupt that state. It is serendipity that there are other liberal factors hastening that bankruptcy.

It’s a counter narrative: Palin is someone who has not been corrupted by beltway politics and go-along, get-along support by the political machines, who has fought the good fight, and she has been unfairly attacked because of it.

"General standards in education just lead to teaching to the test. My daughter is in Kindergarten and they are doing timed reading, not because it is good for teaching reading in Kindergarten or is age appropriate, but to help prepare for a test in 3rd grade."

The lack of standards leads to whole language and...the use of calculators in first grade.

The fighters spend all their ammo on Obama. The “electables” spend their ammo going after Palin

That brings up a question that is highly germane. What Republicans has Mrs. Palin attacked? The mainstream Republicans all seem to have disparaging remarks or outright enmity to Palin. Palin seems to be following the line laid down by a former very successful Republican president who pointedly did not disparage other Republicans, even ones he thought were wrong. He concentrated on the positive task of winning on his own merits. While other Republicans flicked their knives at him he just ignored them and the blades turned to putty.

Oh please. Plotting points on paper is as useful as searching the Internet with a 300 baud moden. Yeah. Technically, you can do it, but the process is so ponderous as to make the tool functionally useless.

Republicans have in the past seemed reluctant to actually vote for a non white male though that sappears to be going by the board now. And Republican women, along with other women, seem reluctant to vote for a woman that is physically attractive on the feeling that pretty = dumb or pretty = competition for one’s husband/boyfriend’s attention. Blonde jokes and their extension to male victims do not cover their origin and continuing focus on women. Blonde jokes are the more modern iterations of the old woman-driver jokes.

Obama will be a pushover by '12.

Assuming we are not ruled by a dictatorship by then.

And assuming Romney is not the Republican nominee.

So I guess Obama does less damage than McCain? It is my understanding that politics is the art of the possible. I support Palin but, some of her her interviews (that to some extent were edited) like with Curic and her stumbling on what papers she read etc hurt her. She is doing what Regan did so well in by passing the press, but she does have negatives to over come. I like the fact that her and Todd run a million dollar business they started. I like her government reform in Alaska. I hope she gets broader appeal or the issue is moot and we have another situation like in Delaware.

It doesn’t have to be exact. A parabola is a parabola. Just plot the key points (vertex, x and y intercepts, etc) or take x^2 and apply the necessary transformations.
The Alaska standards even call for the calc to be used to graph linear functions. Now what is the big deal about drawing a straight line??

Wait and see what happens with government-by-EO which is surely coming. IF Congress or the Courts don’t knock those things down successfully PDQ then dictatorship will be fait accompli.

I have to disagree with you on that. I don’t care for a quitter. Yes, she did it for the money, there is nothing wrong with that, but she most certainly didn’t have any altruistic reasons for leaving the gov.s office. I would prefer some one with a little more experience running the show. I think we can all see that st style over substance isn’t working for us now.

McCain would have given us the Permanent Democrat Majority with his dogged determination for Amnesty. He could have got that one passed. The Kenyan probably can’t. That one issue in the mix makes all others irrelevant.A conservative-but-for-Amnesty ends conservatives and Republicans and the Constitution in the life of the nation. A liberal who truly opposes Amnesty may push the country left but he does not cut off the road back.
