Vigilante justice has come to Seattle, and the caped crusaders drive a Kia.
Seattle police say a group of self-described superheroes have been patrolling the streets at night trying to save people from crime. They call themselves the Rain City Superhero Movement and say they're part of a nationwide movement of real-life crime fighters.
The national website -- cited in a police bulletin sent to Seattle officers Wednesday -- states "a Real Life Superhero is whoever chooses to embody the values presented in super heroic comic books, not only by donning a mask/costume, but also performing good deeds for the communitarian place whom he inhabits."
Police say the "costume-wearing complainants" are lucky they haven't been hurt.

“Police say the “costume-wearing complainants” are lucky they haven’t been hurt.”
True. They would be much safer sitting in a donut shop.
If they are people doing foolish things, why should the state protect them from themselves...
Some of them just like the costume.
Well great, now the Seattle police will have something to do. Lord knows that stopping, preventing crime is not in their job description. The only time the SPD is willing to do something, is when their own lives are in danger, or somewhat in danger. If you’re not wearing the blue, you’re on your own in Seattle. I’ve boycotted the city, and no longer venture into that cesspool.
Tell me that this is a joke. Tell me it really isn’t happening.
How long before some self-delusional guy in a pair of tights has the guts to do something that stops a crime? How embarrassed will the police be then?
There are a lot worse things people could be doing than fighting crime.
I wish more people would do this.
They could be wearing a blue uniform and driving around with a gun, tazer, pepper spray and a nightstick.
Will probably stop as many violent crimes either way.
Anybody remember the Guardian Angels?
The police reserve their god-given right to shoot whoever the heck they want for whatever reason.
Another guy shot in Tukwila last night.
I used to live in Tukwila...
I remember (well, as much as I can remember these days) when I first moved to Seattle about 1979. I noticed that compared to other big cities like NY or Philly or LA there was RARELY a report of anybody shooting anybody.
Now... it’s a daily occurrence.
And honestly, I could sleep better at night and end my days happier if I could trust that I would never have to shoot anyone...
“Anybody remember the Guardian Angels?”
Anybody remember Bernie Goetz? (-:
Yep. I mean, really, the police are not allowed to take on the gangs in any meaningful way, and thugs are “processed” and put back out on the streets, so this is almost a natural development.
The govt is protecting its turf, nothing more.
Bernie Goetz did the right thing. He should have been applauded, not incarcerated.
