Agent: $78M deal for Donovan McNabb
ESPN.com news services
The Washington Redskins and quarterback Donovan McNabb have agreed to a contract extension.
McNabb's agent, Fletcher Smith, told The Associated Press that the extension is worth $78 million over five years, with $40 million of the deal guaranteed. A source told ESPN NFL Insider Michael Smith, who first reported the agreement, that McNabb's contract could be worth $88 million if incentives in the contract are reached.
McNabb, who will turn 34 later this month, agreed to an extension just two weeks after he was benched at the end of a loss to the Lions because coach Mike Shanahan said the quarterback didn't have a grasp of the team's 2-minute offense.

Cardiovascular endurance?? REALLY???
My cardiovascular endurance stinks. Where’s my payday?
Oh, don’t say that. I am a life-long ‘skins fan but I can’t stand McNabb. But I still want the team to do well.
He is a democrat. He’s going to spend his way to the Super Bowl with washed up talent.
Some good QBs graduating this year what are the Redskins thinking.
Hey, the Lions only lost to the previously winless Bills by 2.
Wow, 40 million guaranteed to a guy on the downside. He’s not as mobile as he used to be and he’s never been a great thrower. Big mistake there.
Exactly! The last eleven years or so have been dreadfully painful for Redskin fans. So now we’re going to give $78 million, and possibly up to $88 million, to a 10 year veteran, who ran out of bounds with less than 2 minutes to play in the 4th quarter, while we were trying to run out the clock against the Dallas Cowboys. McNabb could have stayed in bounds and run off another 40 seconds or so. But that was not to be, as his on the field gaff allowed the Cowboys the extra seconds to almost pull victory out of the jaws of defeat. The fact that after ten years in this league he didn’t have enough sense to fall down, instead of running out of bounds and giving the Cowboys a new lease on life, showed me that this “experienced” QB doesn’t think to well on his feet.
You have to ask WHY do people that have a lot of money all of a sudden become Democrats? The only conclusion I can come up with is that they do not like competition. So they want to destroy the middle class to preserve their power and pretend they love the poor.
It’s funny how the more money they make the more they like to tell us how much they love the poor.
I hate the Igles and I hate Skins and the “Dog Killer” the NFL must some time improve those who play the game.
World class affirmative QB’s (mcnabb) and criminal “Dog killer a$$ wipes have no place on national television.
Oh please stop with the liberal jabs. Look on ESPN at their polls. Most sport fans say this is crazy. This is not a right freeper thing. It’s call common sense. Here is the link below. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and vote on the poll.
Now I believe the biggest problems to the Redskins is the owner and not McNabb.
I respect McNabb skills as a football player, but I don't worship him like the liberal sports media. They claim he is the best QB in the game. Sorry but McNabb is not on the same level as Peyton Manning or a Tom Brady.
Uh, Vince Lombardi disagrees with you Sam :-)
Oh gag. Bill Belichick is the most CHEATING coach EVER in any sport. He should have been frog marched OUT of the NFL a number of years ago.
Disclaimer: I am a Dolphins fan, but I speak the truth! LOL
And Rush was absolutely right about McNabb about five years ago.
Like giving raises to governtment union workers - overspending on something no one else wants. Might as well pay Bruce Smith to come back.
Man...did I ever call this one...what a bloodbath.
That may have been the most perfect 1st quarter of football in the history of the NFL.
The Redskins big comeback has begun!
You did. Vick is spankin that ass.
