I had two opinions in the past two days. I saw a missile in the sky over California. Is saw an Islamic crescent in the Google logo. You didn't see it? Fine.
But the invective, the insults, the bitterness this launched has shocked me to the core. What in the heck is going on here?
Not clear? Really? What is the point of all the insults?
There are thorns among the roses. Free Republic is extremely well known now.
So while there are a lot more roses, there are many, many more thorns.
Simply ignore those thorns. Otherwise you’ll get all worked up and post a vanity that people will make fun of :-)

Imagine my surprise to learn I was a worthless, lazy, union loving, Obama voting, overpaid, underworked, POS.

Well what he wants to talk about is that the other day one of two things happened.
Either our military fired a rocket at something or a UFO took off from California.
so which is it?
The problem is that because we can just type something without looking at the person we are talking to, and hit a button, many people tend to discuss in a lot angrier fashion than they would if they were face to face. They also tend to pile on and make fun, much like kids do on the playground. FWIW I noticed it too. And they use the same tactics they decry in liberals. Make fun of an opinion you don’t agree with. It’s the easiest way to marginalize someone.
And sometimes people just act like that because they like the way it makes them feel when their fellows laugh at their little jokes. I shamefacedly admit to doing that myself, sometimes.

People come here for quality content. I didn’t read your earlier posts but in general, vanity posts are subjected to a higher level of criticism— since usually you can just add your opinion to any related post. Not saying your posts were bad or deserved ridicule, but maybe they did!

I think it’s fair to have differing opinions (it’s why we toss things out, to see what other people think) but there is are some here who cannot accept that you might disagree with them without bullying them (and I think that’s what you’re getting at here too).
As for the *missile* or whatever. I simply don’t know. And as for the Google thing, I don’t know about that either. However the whole internet was abuzz over it, so it was worth discussing. And I hate when a few FReepers try to bully people into shutting up by making fun of them. If they don’t care to discuss the subject they are free to leave the thread alone.
