“Not they they would be honored for it... Just vilified”

Person of the year is not necessarily supposed to be an honor. Except insofar as no press is bad press, I guess. I’m just saying they gave it to Hitler, and I don’t think it’s because they liked Hitler.

Yep - you can count on it. But - how telling is it that they didnt make the list on their website? I am not familiar with their process - is that the final list of contenders or - just a list to drive hits to their website?

This was the year of the tea party. So if it is an American and nothing huge happens in the next few weeks, the person of the year should certainly be a representative tea party member.

“Even if they go down that road, they’ll probably individualize it with Beck or Palin”

I should think personalizing it would be the whole point, what with it being “person of the year.” Picking groups defeats the purpose in my opinion. What with “whistleblowers,” “the American military,” and “you,” they might as well say “humanity” every year. That way no one’s left out.

Assange is the guy who released all those documents on Wikileaks.

I'm surprised that the woman who fired Juan Williams isn't on the list.

I think we’re actually in agreement - they jumped the shark decades ago by allowing collective “persons” of the year. I am assuming that Time would be looking to cast the Tea Party in the most unfavorable light and would try to identify a single person who has the highest negative rating and then make them the “face” of it.

* Julian Assange ? who?
* Glenn Beck? lol right.
* The Chilean Miners huh?
* Arne Duncan ? who?
* Lady Gaga ... ROFL
* Hu Jintao ? who?
* LeBron James... why?
* Steve Jobs... um... surely someone else is more deserving
* Hamid Karzai... why?
* David and Charles Koch ? who?
* Barack Obama ROFL maybe moron of the year
* Sarah Palin yep, she deserves it
* Nancy Pelosi ROFL maybe the arrogant loser of the year
* Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert ... lol what a joke
* The Unemployed American hm... naa, Obama is president
* Mark Zuckerberg ... who?

If those are the only choices then Palin gets it, but I would possibly add the tea party.

If Obama was a Republican he would be on the list for his historic losses in the midterms.

Glenn Beck. He has opened eyes. But Lady Gaga will prevail.
