Homestead Police Use Job Application To Nab Robber On 8th Avenue
Police said they used a job application to help nab a young man who's accused of robbing someone in the parking lot of the local Subway sandwich shop.
"This isn't regular criminal behavior," Homestead Police Chief J.A. DeSimone said. "He's not a rocket scientist, but this one takes the cake."
DeSimone said 18-year-old Kris Johnson is accused of pulling a gun on a man in front of the restaurant on West Eighth Avenue and robbing him of $15 just before 5 p.m. Sunday.
DeSimone said the robbery victim flagged down police and told them what had happened.
"He recognized the guy from being in Subway filling out an application prior to being in the robbery, so checked with Subway and they did have an application," DeSimone said.
Homestead police said they got the work application and saw Johnson's address was listed as a residence in the Hazelwood area of the city of Pittsburgh, so they called Pittsburgh police, who detained Johnson until Homestead cops could pick him up.

If Subway uses this incident in a manner in any way prejudicial to his employment application, they open themselves up to a lawsuit.
In theory, but I would argue that “not robbing people with a gun in front of the place” to be an easily defendable job qualification.
Best to wait until they get inside.
Actual conversation between and armed robber and his victim:
AR: “Spare change?”
V: “Sorry, I’m flat broke.”
AR: (pulls a knife) “Gimme your money!”
V: (hands over empty wallet)
AR: (discards wallet) “Why didn’t you tell me you don’t got any money?” (walks away)
What’s the opposite of a “resume enhancement”?
He was having an unexpected allergic reaction to a prescription anti-psychotic medication he had just started taking that morning. On orders of his doctor. This particular drug interacted with two medicines he was taking, again at a physician’s direction, to help him control his bipolar disorder, and this caused the unfortunate involuntary actions that, regrettably, transpired in the immediate aftermath of the stressful job interview he was forced to undergo.
That is a too plausible defense! Kudos.
Even Sandwich Artists need to follow procedure.
