Today I received a letter offering to re-finance our mortgage. They knew the balance needed to refinance plus some other credit information. As I started to shred it, I finally saw at the bottom what company it was from. I was amazed that it was from the Bank of England. Why are they wanting to re-finance our mortgage?? And how did they get our name, address and mortgage info?
That is a bit odd. Was the return address on the envelope a UK address?
"I'm your lender now!"
There was no return address on the outside of the envelope. The contact was a 877 area code telephone number.
Check the yellow pages for the nearest one and inquire. There are too many scams out there, maybe the BBB can help too? Be very careful because scammers will send letters that look authentic..
Was there any business address on the papers?
Not that I recall. Just a name, titles and phone number. I can’t believe that anyone would seriously consider using a mortgage institution that was out of the country. And why would the Bank of England want to offer one out of their country? It’s in the shred pile for sure.
The phone numbers don’t match. But could be it. What an odd name for a city.
I bet is it the Arkansas Bank of England. The actual Bank of England on Threadneedle Street in the City in London, England is the UK Central Bank would not be offering mortgages except maybe to employees and certainly not to foreigners.
That is what caused me to search and find the Arkansas Bank of England.
I am a mortgage banker. That solicitation was probably from the Bank of England (Arkansas)
They know limited information about your current mortgage becausae they can buy that information from the credit agencies...
Rates, due to the fed announcement of QE2, should temporarily get a bit lower than current rates...
The people in Climax, MI and Intercourse,PA will be relieved to hear that ;-)
