Samsung Galaxy S tops Apple iPhone 4 32 GB last week as the best selling cell phone in Japan during it's debut week... but NOT when both the iPhone 4 32GB and 16GB are both counted together, then the iPhone was still the best selling phone in Japan... PING!

All this stuff on smartphones makes my head hurt. I can’t decide whther to get an Android, iPhone, or wait for the Windows phone. All I want is a reliable phone that is easy to use for text and web surfing, including video. I would also like one with a decent camera to take pictures of my baby granddaughter. There are advantages and disadvantages to each of them. My husband thinks I’m crazy to be in such agony over this decision.

It's been a while since I lived there, but Japanese tend to be advertising-driven "fad-fans" who are wont to jump on the latest (not necessarily the best) thing that comes along. (Japanese advertising drives me batty; it's as bad as some of their "game shows"...) Product loyalty is not a big nihonjin thing...
