Addressing Climate Change Marylands Commission on Climate Change, created by Executive Order in 2007,
has concluded that our State would see significant economic and environmental benefits from taking early, immediate actions to reduce global warming pollution.
With more than 3,000 miles of shoreline, Maryland is the fourth most vulnerable state in the nation to the effects of climate change and rising sea levels.
Scientists worldwide agree that early carbon reductions of at least 25 percent are necessary to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.

Welcome
The Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is the first mandatory, market-based effort in the United States to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Ten Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic states have capped and will reduce CO2 emissions from the power sector 10% by 2018.
States sell nearly all emission allowances through auctions and invest proceeds in consumer benefits: energy efficiency, renewable energy, and other clean energy technologies. RGGI is spurring innovation in the clean energy economy and creating green jobs in each state.
This website provides a portal for official user platforms, state applications, and materials for participants in RGGI, as well as current information about the status of RGGI auctions and state rules.
Countdown to Auction 10 December 01, 2010:
RGGI Inc. is a nonprofit corporation created to provide technical and administrative services to the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative CO2 budget trading programs of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Blog: Greening the Government Hara Goes Back to the White House
by Michel Gelobter, Chief Green Officer, Hara
October 15: Last week, my colleague Joel Riciputi and I were honored to attend the White House for the GreenGov Presidential Awards a terrific celebration of the many ways the Federal government is leading the way on clean energy and conservation.
Ive written here before about the importance of Executive Order 13514, in which President Obama is pushing our government to cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 20%, to design and build nothing but zero-energy buildings by 2030, and to think across its entire supply chain about how to promote and to embody sustainability.
I thought you were supposed to say when something was a barf alert.
not one thing in the news about this
Under Governor Martin OMalleys EmPOWER Maryland initiative, the State of Maryland will reduce energy consumption by 15 percent by the year 2015. To help achieve this goal, the Maryland Energy Administration encourages residents to adopt the combination of energy savings measures that are most appropriate for their home. In many cases, these measures do not require a large financial investment.
Enother good reason to vote OweMalley out!
Maybe we can just reverse executive order that thing.
At least Tulips were pretty.
Uh, ok. So they might "benefit" from these actions if...
(1) Man-made global warming was real and not a hoax, and
(2) If the state of Maryland with encased by a gigantic dome that locked in all gases.
If both of the above are untrue, then this CO2 exchange is pure insanity.

One of my aunts lived in College Park, Maryland with her private sector employed husband (an electronics guy who assisted in developing the first ILS system for airports).
When I was in the USAF stationed in the DC area, my wife and I spent a few week-ends with them and noted that, each morning before breakfast, her husband peeked out the window. When I asked him why, he told me that nearly all of his neighbors worked for the federal government and if any of their cars remained in their driveways, he was pleased that they wouldnt be downtown wasting paper clips and making life miserable for other citizens.
