What’s Penn’s exit strategy?
Establish a Socialist regime and declare “victory”?
Pass around tainted kool aid?

The money quote from the article:
"The organizations that are preparing to leave have said they are concerned that continued camp services and management will prolong people staying in temporary shelters, and discourage them from rebuilding."
Be it 99 weeks of unemployment benefits or free trailers for Katrina victims, it ain't easy to get people off the gravy train.

If he’s really working behind the scenes, without all the fanfare of his sojourn down to New Orleans, then I say, good for him. I’ll have to investigate further......

Chances are his soultion will be a publicity campaign for more US aid dollars.
No need to spend his own....

Well, it used to be a golf course. Now it's packed with more than 50,000 homeless and is known as "Sean Penn's camp," because the actor's humanitarian organization, JP/Haitian Relief Organization, runs it. Everyone knows the camps are hotbeds of rape and violent crime, but we've been planning all day for Marc to drop me off here to meet someone. His sudden worry about my getting out of the car is a little unsettling ...... (Update: Sean Penn has written me to emphasize that he and J/P Haitian Relief Organization are committed to their work in Haiti for the long term.) If staying in Haiti and working relief projects for the folks down there keeps him busy, then more power to him. Better he’s doing something worthwhile there than being a pain in the a** here.

“Sean Penn Vows ‘Decades’ in Haiti as Relief Partners Plan Exits”
Hey, Penn-Head, you dope: go ahead and spend millions of your money and the money of your Hollywierd buddies. You can spend money in Haiti for CENTURIES and it will still be just like it existed on the day you arrived there.

You don’t have to like him but if he stays and does some good for someone else then good on him - I still don’t like him but I will give the man some respect for putting his money where his mouth is.

Penn is to be commended for his actions. However, I noticed something was missing from his comments.
He didn't say ONE word about the billions of dollars Hussein Obama promised to Haiti. Of which, 13 months later, the Island hasn't received a dime.
Guess he is so busy clothing the naked and feeding the needy, it slipped his mind.

I am not very well informed on exactly what is and is not happening in Haiti, either to reform its institutions or in terms of relief efforts there.
So, I could be wrong. But, my suspicion is that like many other things that Penn has taken political positions on over the past ten years, I imagine his work in Haiti MIGHT be another perfect example of extreme “Liberalism”; extremely “well-intentioned” and extremely misguided. Exactly what the Marxist’s meant by their “useful idiot” Liberal “friends”.
