He dropped that from his stage name DECADES ago. It was a tack on by some music industry exec anyway IIRC - because “Mellencamp” sounded too country.
As to his music, haven't heard anything that good from him in a long time, but I liked “Human Wheels”.

Supposedly I am a cousin to him sometimes removed. I am not a fan of his at all. We do come from the same German Plump family stock. I did think about knockin’ on his door and saying “Hi cousin”. LOL, it was a passing thought.
I hope he comes around. Maybe he has been talking to some of his southern Indiana peeps. Times are tough for them.

My guess is it will involve a Tastee Freeze, shady trees, hands between the knees, Bobby Brooks slacks, and someone doing what they please.
