In the winter, I use one in a goose neck desk lamp to keep my mouse hand warm. You are obviously a genius because I do exactly the same thing with a 250W heat bulb.
You don't have to keep the whole house as warm as you like it in the spot you're sitting and you get a nice warm glow. It's just like sitting in the sun...almost.
