A trailer for Vince Vaughn's new film The Dilemma is being recut after GLAAD called it insensitive.
In the clip, Vaughn, who plays an automotive consultant, says, "Ladies and gentleman, electric cars are gay."
"The use of the word 'gay' in this trailer as a slur is unnecessary and does nothing more than send a message of intolerance about our community to viewers," GLAAD president Jarret Barrios said in a statement.
For its part, Universal says it is replacing the trailer. "The teaser trailer for 'The Dilemma' was not intended to cause anyone discomfort," the company said in its own statement. "In light of growing claims that the introduction to the trailer is insensitive, it is being replaced. A full trailer, which has been in the works for some time, will post online later today."

CNN's Anderson Cooper weighed in on the trailer during a visit to Ellen DeGeneres' show. "They thought that it was OK to put that in a preview for the movie to get people to go and see it," he said. "We've got to do something to make those words unacceptable because those words are hurting kids."

This movie must suck. If the Hollywood folks did not realize this “gay” comment would not cause a firestorm, or at least a little hissy fit, then they should be fired. The person that came up with this will get a bonus, not a kick in the ass.
They are probably hoping for GLAAD to come out with a boycott. That would be the best thing that could happen to this movie.
