Big difference—the Confederacy never committed genocide against anyone. Extremely poor judgement, if not outright stupidity, on his part. Anyone who puts on a Nazi uniform for ANY reason need to think hard about the impact on their political aspirations. Even an actor in a movie has got to think it will come back to haunt them.

Robert DeNiro and Michael Hall (the Dexter guy) are not running for office. They’re actors so they can do anything they want. Even Tom Cruise (who played a “good” German officer) has to know that if he ever ran for office, those pictures would come back to haunt him.
