RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- A federal judge ordered a North Carolina school to admit a 14-year-old high school student suspended for wearing a nose piercing she says is part of her religion, and the teenager was headed to science class Friday afternoon...

I have a t-shirt that says “Jesus Saves”. It’s part of my religion. Am I good to go?
Religious freedom, or religious privilege? Why should she be allowed while others can’t?
Piercing? Heck, that looks like the blackheads I used to get on my nose all the time when I was that age.
Religion or no religion...for ——’s sake, I’ll never understand why people find it classy and charming for a girl to punch holes in her earlobes, but disgusting and trashy for her to put an identical hole in her nose.
I’ve taught high schoolers. If you don’t want total war, you have to pick your battles.
Absolutely.
We saw this years ago with paint. They started with just their toe nails, but anyone with a brain knew it would lead to blue faces and such.
Those aren’t piercings. That guy fell face-first into a tackle box.
Must be one of them Nez Perce Indians.
Might catch a big one if I just affixed his head to my line.
You could catch a whole school of tuna with that guy’s head.
I agree. This was silly. I went to school with girls who had their noses pierced back in the mid-80s. It was hardly distracting. A pierced nose is pretty mild on the list of "body modifications" that have become fashionable these days.
I like tuna. Time for a trip. Going to find that freak and then go deep sea fishin’. Later ya’ll!!!
The Iaconos belong to a small religious group called the Church of Body Modification, which sees piercings and tattoos as religious devotion. The church has 3,500 members nationwide and was incorporated in Pennsylvania in July 2008, according to the lawsuit.

Well alrighty then...
This here is a bonified religion...
or should that be bodified ???
The judge is an IDIOT!
So the kid wants to be different wera a nose ring and claims it is part of her religion. So what next? A teacher shows up naked and claims it is part of his religion. Does the idiot judge uphold that and send him back into the school? What the hell has happened to America?
Didn’t an earlier article mention “Septum piercing”?
This type of piercing is VERY low-key. It’s less noticeable than the 4 lobe piercings that are oh-so-popular these days (Even with those over 40 years old)
Got Magnets?
