PHOENIX (AP) -- An Arizona woman accidentally glued an eye shut when she mistook super glue for her eye drops. KSAZ-TV said Irmgard Holm of Glendale had cataract surgery a year ago. She was reaching for what she thought was one of her half-dozen eye drop medications. The burning sensation told her immediately something was seriously wrong.

Reading glasses.
Never leave home without them and have a pair stashed in every room.
She just wanted to get some shuteye...
“I picked the wrong day to start using superglue”
I hate it when that happens.
An old friend of mine in the USAF used RAID to handle his crabs. I heard him screaming in the shower ;-{)
Never take both a sleeping pill and a laxative before bed.
And the crabs?
Got some superglue in my eye once, I’m a miniature wargamer and I was trying to clear a clog in the tube...well, I squeezed too hard and blammo...right into the eye, PAST my glasses somehow. Luckily, Maimonides Hospital was a block away and after a few hours in the ER, my vision returned and the doctor told me not to worry, he gave me some drops for the itching and told me don’t rub my eyes, whatever I did, for a week. He was right, haven’t had a single ill effect since...
Gawd,
Never try to find the Motrin at 3 AM with your glasses off...I took my Grandfather’s diuretic instead. Wondered why my ear STILL hurt and I needed to pee all the time....
Just be sure to keep your glass/lens cleaner separated from your eye-drops.
(yes I did;)
When my son was very young, he managed to get a nasty cut just above his eye on his forehead. They decided to glue it shut rather than sew it shut, using the hospital variant of super-glue.
I had one arm, the doctor had the other arm, as she applied the glue. Of course, she didn’t hold his arm very well, and being a pre-schooler, he whipped his arm out, rubbed his forehead, and then rubbed his eye, gluing it shut.
To get the eye unglued, they brought in a full operations team (anesthesiologist, nurse, and doctor), put him to sleep, and used some sort of alchohol solution to slowly unglue his eyelid.
Don’t worry. She’ll be OK, sue the Company, Get SSI for the rest of her life and write a book on how to scam America.
>My wife recently rubbed her eye after handling habanero peppers.
Took a pee after handling habanero peppers.
...or you’ll wake up feeling shi**y.

Initially we often we have to cut the eyelashes apart to get to the ocular surfaces-cornea and conjunctiva.
Next, copious irrigation with sterile saline.
Then depending on the corneal compromise, we usually Rx a prophylactic antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and or pain meds PRN, until the cornea re-epithelializes, which usually occurs very rapidly. Once the cornea nerves are protected, the patient is MUCH happier.
As with everything, its God that does the healing.

It never ceases to amaze me, how much damage the eye can take without sustaining permanent damage.
Easy to injure, but unless you penetrate to a certain level, amazingly quick to heal without residual, permanent sequelae.
Truly awesome, Divine engineering.
“Hold my calls.”
Now 1002 uses for super glue.
