ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A Rio Rancho woman discovered money falling from a Wells Fargo Bank balloon during Mondays mass ascension and thought it was a bank promotion. She soon found out the money wasnt free.
I told them, Oh! You have to go out their and look. I just found 50 bucks, the Wells Fargo balloon is throwing out cash.' Kathy Bustamante said.
It was a complete surprise as Bustamante and a co-worker watched the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta mass ascension from outside their work on Alameda Boulevard. Then she noticed something fall from the balloon basket.
All of a sudden papers starting falling out from the balloon, Bustamante said.
Bustamante first thought the papers were passes for a free balloon ride, but then she stumbled upon $20. She walked around the lawn and found more money.
The other 20 I found right there by those bushes, and then the 10 was just right beneath those bushes right there, Bustamante said.
Bustamante rushed inside and told co-workers about what she found. In minutes, employees were combing the fields for cash thinking it was a bank promotion.

Then Bustamante found a wallet. Inside the wallet were credit cards and a fishing license with the name Doug Patterson.
Patterson had lifted off that morning in a Wells Fargo balloon. We won free tickets; my wife and I won free tickets to go up on the balloon ride, Patterson said

I was walking down the sidewalk and found $100. A few steps later another $100. I looked around and there was five more one hundred dollar bills.
I waited for about a half hour, then a woman pulls up frantic. She obviously was looking for the money she dropped as she left a restaurant. I handed her the $700 but then she told me it was $1200 she had lost.
The rest is who knows where. Maybe someone thought it was a restaurant promotion.
Good deed. Good for you.
I would have thought it was another Obama stimulus program.
