I just got my flu shot on Tuesday and for the past couple of days I have been lightheaded and having mild nasuea. I checked and discovered that the swine flu strain was included in this years vaccine, even though I asked the nurse if this was for the seasonal flu only.
This is also the first time I have ever had a reaction to a vaccine.
I’ll keep taking vitamin D 3 and green tea and will not get a flu shot.
I decided not to get it this year too.
Get your vitamin D levels checked. I was supplementing and my level still was low. I have upped it accordingly.
Are you logged in?
My grandson’s pediatrician gave him a combo seasonal flu/H1N1 shot in September that knocked the little guy for a loop for two days. H1N1 wasn’t a threat last year and is less of a threat for this year. I think they’re trying to use up their excess inventory.
I only got the shot because I go to a college with 27,000 people and I have to ride a Milwaukee County Bus, so my risk of exposure goes way up and I cannot afford to miss any classes. I am very upset they didn’t tell me the swine flu was part of this years batch. If I had known that I would have refused the shot.

I wonder if they made it with a live or dead virus cell?
I’m sorry you’re feeling sick. But don’t forget that having a reaction to a shot (a) doesn’t mean that you’re *getting* the illness you got the vaccine for — it just means you are having a reaction; and (b) also does not invalidate the vaccine. You should still be protected. Of course, it does mean you feel kind of crummy during the time you are having the reaction. So you have to decide if it was worth it.
I once got a tetanus shot in one arm and yellow fever in the other all in one day (I was getting ready to travel overseas), and that night I passed out cold on the bathroom floor. Very unpleasant. OTOH, at least I was protected against both of those things. It probably would have been best to space the shots out.
I know the flu would be 10X worse and I haven’t had it since 1996 and that was when I was on interferon.
Ohh, I didn’t know that. I remember worrying about him getting one last year when there was so much bad talk about it.
Now that I've said that, I'll probably get it twice this year.
Sorry, but I refuse to be injected with any flu vaccine. Many of them use mercury as a preservative.
The human body cannot break mercury down once it is injected directly into the bloodstream.
I am in airports constantly, have traveled to 35 countries, every state, and average 30 states per year, and at least 4 3rd world countries per year. I have gotten the flu twice in my adult life, one of those times was the one and only year I got a flu shot.
I believe they combined the ‘regular’ flu vaccine with H1N1 this year because people were able to avoid the H1N1 vaccine last year since it was offered separately. So, by combining them they plan to ‘get’ more people to accept H1N1.
I'm glad you get over it in only a week, and evidently suffer no economic harm. I hope the people you spread it to are all as lucky.
Sounds like something you ate, not the flu shot.
I got my combined flu shot this week, too. No reaction.
No reaction last year when I got the 2 separate flu shots.
I don’t think someone should get a shot of something they are not comfortable with just to prevent other people from possibly getting sick, seeing as they could have gotten the shot themselves so they would not inherit the flu bugs and if they didn’t get the shot then they too could have come down with the flu and gotten someone ELSE sick so just who are you feeling sorry for? Lol.
I don't infect others
I lose money but gain from being in "a desert place" for a few days
I now know what malaria must feel like.
