She can't narrow it down a bit more then that?
No wonder she is broke.
Some people are just so f****** stupid.
It’s a black thing. The president is no better. Worse, really. A lot worse.
My thought exactly...10 to 50 million? What a hoot!
Toni Braxton, Wesley Snipes, MC Hammer, Hussein Obama et al...
don’t forget Rodney King
Toni Braxton was on Oprah Winfrey’s show a long time ago. I haven’t watched that program in years, so I can’t tell you exactly when I saw her interview.
Anyway, in talking about her bankruptcy she whined to Oprah saying that she had made so much money that it was hard for her to keep track of every penny and where it all went when she squandered it.
Oprah looked at her with a disapproving eye and disagreed saying that she knew where every penny was that she earned.
The look of confusion on Braxton’s face was priceless!
I’m not an Oprah fan, but there is no question she’s a good businesswoman. She made her money fairly and she has kept good control over it. I imagine she has little patience for nitwits who throw their money away and then come whining about it.
Ha!
Toni would give Dave Ramsey a heart attack.
She went from being a public school teaching assistant to a multiple platinum recording star in two years.
I'm sure the usual story applies here: seedy managers and agents, being cajoled into signing contracts with attractive upfront bonuses that left her deeply indebted on the back end, as well as being taken advantage of by friends and family.
She was a beautiful young woman with a beautiful voice who was chewed up and spat out by the music industry.
She's a breast cancer survivor, she has a heart condition and she has a disabled son - not to mention her marriage fell apart last year.
I wish her all the best.
If most people understood how a recording contract worked, they would be less critical.
Oprah, Bill Cosby, Denzel Washington, et al for examples of good Hollywood business people
It would be racist to suggest that Oprah be held as a financial example by certain other hyphenated-Americans.
One of my favorite bands is The Brandos; you've probably never heard of them. They've been around since the mid 80's and were jerked around by a couple labels (Geffen and RCA, IIRC). They ended up signing with a German label, and have done pretty well for themselves in Europe.
Is she too big to fail? Anyone have any pictures?
Who gets stuck because this bum runs up extravagant debts and then goes broke?
It is VERY, VERY Simple, DON”T SPEND MORE THAN YOU MAKE! If you can keep track of it, then you dont deserve it in the first place!
She’s only worth somewhere between $1 million and $10 million? That really narrows it down, doesn’t it?
