Every day we wake up to a new horror from our so called representative government.

Every day we wake up to a new horror from our so called representative government.

First it was the deliberate efforts to collapse the currency and destroy the economy. Then it was taking over of private corporations at gun point.

Then it was betrayal of our allies around the globe and embracing monsters like Chavez and Ahmadinejad.

Then it is the destruction of the US health care system ( the best on the planet) to be replaced with systematic denial of care and the end of innovation.

The president wants the power to order the secret and permanent detention of US citizens as well as the power to order US citizens assassinated and he wants it all solely on his say so and solely for mere suspicion. No hearings, no trial, no nothing: one day a person is there and the next it's either a Pinochet style disappearance or the person is executed in the street.

Today we wake up to stand gasping in horror at the idea that Hussein wants government-mandated back-doors built into in ALL communications systems, including all encryption software. The NY Times reported that the Hussein administration is drafting a law expressly designed to force a "mandate" that all communications services be "able to intercept and unscramble encrypted messages [..]" This includes all software developers and all peer to peer systems and developers. The goal according to the Hussein administration is to allow Government to INTERCEPT and decrypt ALL communications.

Now even your most basic privacy is being extinguished by the despotic monster in the whitehouse.

It has been one stunning horror after another. I am unable to recognize the United States of America any more.

A little late to the party?

My understanding (which could be mistaken) was that the administration wanted to ensure there was a way to acquire communications from carriers via warrant, not to intercept without a warrant (i.e. communications companies should be able to respond to a warrant with something other than “we don’t have anything”).

There are certainly issues to consider — the intrusion on the rights of the carrier to do business as he wishes among them.

But, a warrant is pretty much a legal way of getting around any right-to-privacy ... so if the acquision of communcations is under warrant, privacy doesn’t apply.

It’s been all over the news the past couple of days. There are other reasons for posting crap like this. :-) Me thinks the VKs will be on this one in a little while.

Read A.E. Van Vogt’s “The Weapons shops of Ishtar”.
It’s about making sure free people always have access to technology superior to the governments. Remember - Obama only gets his way if the tech guys comply. As any good programmer knows, you always leave yourself a back door into any of your programs.

It looks too much like “bait”. This subject was pretty much worked over here yesterday and the day before... in fact, I “think” it started late last week. :-)

Welcome to the boards. ;)

We all understand how you feel, and
we know exactly what you’re talking about.

Please continue to be involved and don’t feel
embarrassed by the smart-asses.

I was a lurker since... 99? 2000?
I was always afraid to post because some Freepers
have very sharp ‘wit’, but I made the leap
and they don’t scare me anymore. Too much. :)

How long have you been a lurker? Glad you got your
brave on today. Be well, be blessed.
