Obama does not have a scar on his head. That's a part in his hair. In photos where this "scar" is visible, you can clearly see that his hair is brushed in different directions along that line.
Negroid hair tends to stay put when you brush it in one direction, especially if it's cut very short. It doesn't just bend back to its natural direction of growth, like straight hair does. I've got similar hair to Obama, so I'm intimately familiar with this.

This “scar” business makes birtherism look tame in comparison.
It’s not a scar. It’s a part in his hair. Sometimes you see it, sometimes you don’t. Depends on whether Mr. Brilliant was in a hurry that day, or not.
Please, there isn’t anything more to this than a personal grooming issue.

With respect for your knowledge and specific personal experience of grooming—my surgeon friend is a neurosurgeon, and the line seen in the photo is one which follows cranial bone sutures of a particular operation, which I’ve described in general terms in the prior post. This is a surgeon’s opinion, and he tells me it has been widely discussed among his colleagues. I thank you for the additional observation of a potential hair part. However, the line goes up and over the crown of his head and comes back down. What is also in my prior post is that this approach to such an operation is notably out of date, and would have been out of date when obama was a child. Identifiable like poor dental work. All of this for what it is worth, which is speculation, but speculation of experts one would tend to listen to. The lack of any medical data the public should know about obama heightens clue seeking. But thank you.
There were several photos posted of this mysterious "scar" when this theory was first proposed on FR. I don't have them now, but I can recall that the "scar" wasn't in the exact same place on his head in each photo, and in some, it was missing entirely.
In one closeup photo (which is likely the one you're referring to), the resolution was good enough that you could easily see the direction of travel of the individual hairs on his head.
That his hair was parted, was clearly visible in that photo.
There have been lots of crisp closeups taken of Obama since this idea was first proposed, and the mysterious "scar" seems to have disappeared.
If Obama actually had a scar on his head in that location, it would be almost impossible to mask in every photo, with his hair cropped so closely.
The one photo, which is the one being speculated on is listed earlier on this thread, and, not being experienced in this type of hair or grooming, it would seem to be a very unusual parting of hair that forms into a U that has an apex at the top of the head and then comes back down on the same side forward from where it began behind the ear.
This is what has caused the conversation- that, and the absence of medical records to the public, which is simply wrong to have done. Like Clinton, obama has not provided any but a single sheet “statement”. In Clinton’s case it is now an open secret in medical circles that he most likely has an STD in check with suppressant medications. Even the cardiologists that worked on him gossip, and it gets out, blood screen results.
For neurosurgeons like my buddy, this is what they do,day in day out. It’s like learning about the massive doses of cortisone that JFK took for his Addison’s disease. Doses that would assuredly have affected his behaviour and stability. That said, I accept your experiential opinion, and understand your incredulity. This is the kind of thing that forensic types and pathologists also speculate over. Insatiable curiosity... dying to get their hands on the case and all that. And because we know so little, it gets in the way of leadership and trust.
Ask any black man with kinky hair. They'll tell you that it's easy to accidentally part your hair like that, if it's cropped as close as Obama's is.
I have no idea why Obama would screw up a simple thing like brushing his own hair, but it's evident by the photos (to any black man) that he's done that on more than one occasion. Using only one hand to brush his hair, instead of switching the brush to his other hand, might explain it.
Who knows? I just think the simplest answer is the best one in this case. There are plenty of more important things about Obama for us to apply intelligent analysis to.

As far as the hair thing goes, my own hair is very similar to Obama's. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about.
