Jupiter is bright in the sky right now, and has a bit of an odd color, especially just above the horizon. Look at it through some binoculars and see if there are any little ‘white dots’ around it. Those would be its moons.

Sounds like the northern lights we see in Minnesota, but you’re not, well....north. Strange.

Jupiter is bright in the sky right now...That would be my bet. Sounds like about the right position in the sky for where Jupiter is right now.

That is my view on the way to work every day. I turn right on Milam just in front of the tower.

I know what that is, seen it before, believe it or not those are ice crystals. Oh I believe it. And it was probably coincidental anyway.
Can you stick a phone cam out the window and spare us a wee peek?
Or maybe a more detailed description. Could it be lasers? Reflecting emergency lights? An outdoor rave or sports event? Swamp gas?

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

I grew up near Alcoa Tenn. I remember as a kid mid to late 70’s strangely colored test clouds coming from Alcoa. We would get warnings on the news so the people did not panic.

Have you tried to look at it with binoculars (at least 7x50s)? Right now (Monday evening around 9pm central time), three moons are on the north side of the planet (left side) and one on the right.

Just went out and looked. {extreme SE Kansas}
I see a very bright planet at about 120 degrees on my compass. {east/southeast}
I estimate the elevation to be about 20 degrees above the horizon.
