In offering animals to kids with no access to them, I met a teacher with bad manners and this teacher did not care that he was setting a bad example. Maybe I'm just old school, but I was mortified.

Why excerpt from this little blog?
I thought it was interesting. If you don’t, I see that there is quite a variety of articles on here today. Enjoy!
By the way, if this had been my wife or me, I would have let the teacher know what I thought. Right is right. Wrong is wrong. Unfortunately, our kids get to sit in front of these kinds of teachers.
Like needless excerpting for blog hits?
Wrong like that?
I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I clicked the link and visited your crappy blog. It was two pages of mindless babbling.
LOL...good! The “gang” is here! It’s not my blog..and you are free to read what you like to read, as I am free to read what I like.
Extremely bad behavior from someone who shouldn’t be teaching a class anywhere, it seems.
I was attending a convention in Florida a few years ago and I found myself on a shuttle bus with a goup of teachers, going from the hotel to the convention center. Many of these teachers thought the driver was doing a bad job and complained pretty much from start to finish. They apparently also thought the driver was not an English language speaker. After they all disembarked, the driver said, “Did they think I couldn’t understand them?” Apparently so. And this from the group that promotes “empathy” and “respect for diversity.”
I don’t know why some teachers feel as though they have a right to act this way. Maybe it’s because they believe others don’t respect their profession. In any case, it’s sad to see such a disconnect between what they teach and how they behave.
Disclaimer: There are so many fine teachers - unfortunately, the others make such a bad impression that it’s hard to forget.
Oh crap! When did I join your “gang,” and why didn’t you tell me?
Indeed we live in a wondrous world of infinite possibilities.
(Shrugs)
Say “la vee.”
; )
It’s a secret gang. So secret, not even the members know they’re members. Shhhh
As I refuse to give blog pimps hits, I’m left speculating on what constitutes bad manners. Now this could be something awful like the teacher loudly passing gas as she wiped her nose on her sleeve, or it could be something not worth bothering with such as wearing white shoes after labor day. Given that it’s a pimped blog, I’m betting she was wearing white shoes.
That is certainly possible. When you walk in on the middle of a class and expect to get attention it would be a lot like walking onto a farm while the farmer was busy doing his/her job and expecting them to drop everything for you. People who don't give respect often don't get respect.
“When you walk in on the middle of a class and expect to get attention it would be a lot like walking onto a farm while the farmer was busy doing his/her job and expecting them to drop everything for you.”
Except that a public school is not the teacher’s private property. And even if that were not the case, the teacher has no excuse for being rude. Unless the visitor is putting people in danger, the teacher should exhibit some grace.
A public school isn’t anyone’s private property. I guess people should just feel free to walk into a classroom unannounced and interrupt it with anything that happens to pop into their mind. What excuse did the farmerette have for being rude?
LOL..I don’t think this lady thought the school was “her private property”. And the article said it was noon and that another teacher took her to the classroom.
I believe she was trying to be helpful to a kid or two that didn’t have animals. FREE animals..especially the Dexter cattle they have, is nothing to sneeze at.
I am also sure that she didn’t realize that she couldn’t or shouldn’t walk into school and make such an offer. The article says that they don’t have kids. She’s gray haired, which leads me to believe that its been a while since she was in a school, let alone know that she wasn’t supposed to “walk in”.
I didn't think she was either. I was replying to someone who brought that concept up as the teacher's rationale.
I am also sure that she didnt realize that she couldnt or shouldnt walk into school and make such an offer.
I also didn't say she shouldn't or couldn't go to the school or teacher and make the offer. The teacher might have been more receptive if she had contacted him outside of the classroom. You say it was noon as if that means there was no class in session. It is a little odd that there were students at their desks if there wasn't.
The teacher has his little study plan made out and you’d better not rock his boat! The kids might be inspired to ask questions he can’t answer, he isn’t about to take that chance!
“What excuse did the farmerette have for being rude?”
Was the “farmerette” rude? It looked like she asked for directions and was escorted to the classroom. Who knows? There might have been much more to the story than what was written. But when teachers are with their students, yes, they do have a responsibility to act like gracious adults. It sets a good example.
