Every now and then, an animal rights activist will toss aside all pretenses to common sense and make a truly inane (and frighteningly candid) statement. Todays case in point: Dr. Jerry Vlasak, a part-time trauma surgeon who was at one time a spokesperson for the PETA-linked Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). Hes also been affiliated with the pseudo-pirate Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and a public defender of the terrorist Animal Liberation Front. When asked recently about whether we should take steps to eliminate mosquitoes, Vlasak spouted off with a radical anti-people solution. As Wesley J. Smith reports on his blog:
They would have us believe its either the mosquitoes or us. Thats just not the case. For one thing, there are way too many people on the planet, Vlasak said. Vlasak said more attention should be focused on the problems of overpopulation instead. One of the problems is, they send 1 million pounds of food to Somalia and all they do is reproduce and pretty soon theres going to be more people suffering there. China is sort of an example where they were able to stabilize the population with governmental standards, Vlasak said.
Get that? Instead of swatting or spraying an annoying insect, we should let poor Somalians starve, since giving them food to live will just result in them having kids. Or maybe Chinese-style population control could work.
Right.
This is nothing new from Vlasak. At the Animal Rights 2003 conference, Vlasak (as a representative of PCRM) endorsed the murder of physicians whose medical research work requires the use of lab rats. (PCRM has denied that Vlasak was speaking on its behalf, but the events program described him as Jerry Vlasak, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.)
Vlasak stated:
I dont think youd have to kill -- assassinate -- too many vivisectors before you would see a marked decrease in the amount of vivisection going on. And I think for 5 lives, 10 lives, 15 human lives, we could save a million, 2 million, 10 million non-human lives.
Unfortunately, Vlasak is not alone in his bizarre, anti-human thinking. Accompanied by violence or not, the idea that theres nothing special about people is increasingly common in the animal rights movement. It seems that when people are the problem, no solution is ever enough.
OK, let’s start reducing population with Dr. Vlasak.
Looney Vlasak Ping!
OK, lets start reducing population with Dr. Vlasak.
Exactly. If he is against humans he should volunteer to be the first to go - what a lunitic.
There’s no way this guy could have a practice. “You want medicine for the parasites, Timmy? Flatworms have a right to live too!”
Hence the part-time trauma surgeon. God have mercy on anyone going to the ER on this creep’s watch.
Why did he become a doctor? Hmmm. Trauma surgeon—may because he can let people die? Wonder what his mortality rate is compared to averages.
I thought I read he was also a professor. Is this is an example of your so called intellectuals? Can you imagine this kind of person teaching at our universities?
“An intellectual is a highly educated man who can’t do arithmetic with his shoes on, and is proud of his lack.”
Robert Heinlein
Yep, this turkey lives in Agoura Hills and practices in the Los Angeles area. He’s married to Pamelyn Ferdin, the child actress who is also an animal rights nutjob.
It’s amazing to me he still has a license to practice.
Viruses and bacteria are lifeforms too, you murderer!
He is goofy but I like his pickles.
I’ve never read that he teaches but he very well may. He seems more suited to that than actually laying a knife on a patient.
Sounds like he’s trying to get a czar appointment in the Obama administration.
If he hasn’t killed himself already he is a hypocrite. People like to follow by example, y’know. Maybe if he starts, everybody else in the world will start killing themselves too. It will be the new fad.
Absolutes ping!
Vlasak is best pals with Paul Watson (”Whale Wars” tool) who founded Sea Shepherd Society, and i found this interesting lil’ tidbit:
“In August, 2007, the Willassen Senior was sunk in Norway by a previously unknown group calling itself ‘Agenda 21’.[96] Watson supported the organisations actions, claiming the members were Norwegian citizens.[97] Agenda 21 sank the Norwegian whaler Skarbakk in April, 2009. They left a note behind which read, “We came to Henningsvaer. We saw the Skarbakk. We sank the bastard”. The group also issued a communique.[98] Watson again congratulated Agenda 21 for their actions.”
Interesting choice of name....

Yep, a genuine nest of vermin.
All the folks that think there are too many people should volunteer for elimination first.
