ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Jay Cutler can't lose. Tony Romo can't win.
What a surprise for both the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.
Cutler threw three touchdown passes and Romo wasn't able to respond, lifting the Chicago Bears to a 27-20 victory Sunday.
The Bears come away 2-0 for the first time since their Super Bowl season in 2006.
Dallas fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2001, when Quincy Carter took over for the retired Troy Aikman at quarterback. Cowboys loyalists will remember the 1993 season starting 0-2 and ending with a Super Bowl championship, but that club got Emmitt Smith back from a contract holdout to start its rally. This club can only look forward to tumult as owner Jerry Jones isn't likely to tolerate such a sloppy start to a season he expected to end in the Super Bowl at Cowboys Stadium.

That’s why we play the games.
I like the way that this season is starting, though!
YES! GO BEARS!
Yep Brett Favre needs Sidney Rice back and for Harvin to heal from his migraines.
Actually, Brent needs to glue his keister to the seat of his lawnmower.
People are on Romo’s case, but he is playing good enough to win. Last week, he WON the game for them if the idiot lineman didn’t foul unnecessarily. This week, Romo played worse than usual, neither interception was his fault. The first was a fluke, the second a deflection. If their kicker didn’t stink, it would be a different game. Their also has been a significant difference both weeks between the teams in terms of what the defense is allowed to do to the opposing QB. McNabb got bumped last week and they got a free touchdown from the resulting penalty. Washington was allowed to pummel Romo. This week, again, Romo gets slammed to the ground...no penalty. Cutler gets the call and free 1st down for the same type of hit. Believe me, the Cowboys have not played great, but the refs are making it quite a bit harder,
Easy prediction..going into the LAST week of the season, they’ll be about 20 teams alive for the post season, and we’ll have to go to the 4th or 5th level tie-breaker to decide at least one spot..
Cutler was also flagrantly facemasked on the opening drive with no call from the officials, so it isn’t like Romo suffered any more from the refs than Cutler. The Cowboys didn’t lose because of the refs.
Playing ‘well’ enough to win. Good is an adjective, well the adverb. “It was a good win and he played well.”
“This will shut up all of the people that say that pre-season doesnt matter.
You play like you practice.’
I do believe the Bears lost all their preseason games.
Jerry Jones has such an ego and wants to play like he is the head coach, he will never hire anyone but coaches who will let him. So we keep getting laid-back coach after laid-back coach.
Sadly, the Cowboys will not see a Super Bowl again until Jerry Jones either swallows his pride or no longer owns the team. Sine I doubt he ever sells, we will have to wait and see if his son wants to win bad enough the bring in an assertive leader for head coach and let him do his job.
Apparently he bit his tongue long as long as he could with Jimmy Johnson, but has not been able to since then. That was a big part of the reason Jimmy left (remember "anyone could win the SB with what I gave him?").
I have been a Cowboys fan my whole life - I am certain I have been a fan longer than Jerry. I will be a fan after Jerry;s gone; I will have to wait him out I guess.
It’s not about wins and losses in the pre-season, there are certain things you want to accomplish, namely instilling confidence in the starters that the system is in place, and will work. That clearly never happened in Dallas.
Teams lose pre-season games usually because of players who wind up not even making the final roster anyway, but it was clear from the pre-season games, that the Cowboys starting offense was never in sync, and those problems bled into the regular season.
Yes, I do miss those Cowboys.
