One of the dumbest things I've ever read. Gee if only more were worthy of a response from the great Dryman about his silly rant, complete with a pointless link to the FR home page and paranoia about lurking "INFILTRATORS".
Karl Rove turned his back on Free Republic (conservatives); actually he thumbed his nose.
Of all the things to bash Rush about, his failure to get in line with the conservative-in-no-way-whatsoever Huckabee, is a curious choice.

Huckabee is a strong social conservative. His professed fiscal conservatism and national security conservatism are in doubt because of his track record as Governor. But his social conservatism bona fides are not in question.

Pournelle was involved on the ground for the Goldwater campaign, so I expect his conservative credentials substantially precede yours.
The focus of any response/criticism of Rove should be on the specific points he makes and why or why not the conclusions he draws are likely to be true or not true. Too many of the posters here post emotional rants that are not based on rebutting the arguments Rove makes with facts or alternative logic. Futhermore, many of the opinions are flat out rude, which is patently counterproductive to what matters most - winning.
Rove is on our side. Period. The ONLY focus that makes sense is carrying out actions that give the most conservative candidate who has a chance to win the best opportunity to do just that - win.
Many here post diatriabes indicating that they just WILL NOT continue to support rinos anymore or that we simply have to MAKE A STAND NOW and NOT PUT UP WITH THIS BULLSHIT ANY MORE. Such sentiments are simply ignorant and foolish and completely ignore a truism that has evident throughout recorded history - you better damn well pay attention to the likely consequences of your actions based on the best available objective evidence and NOT base your decisions on emotion.
The bottom line is that Castle gave the Republicans the best chance to win the Senate, and, contrary to what many are saying here, that matters.
If there is a fact based logical rebuttal that is based on historical evidence (remember induction?), I would be very curious to know what it is. Spare me the inane emotional rants.
Winnning is what matters - and for those of you who think that Castle is no better than Coons or that O’Donnell has a reasonable chance to win or that it is better to have liberal democrat than a turncoat fake Republican, well you’re simply delusional.

Yeah, there’s my analysis. Castle turns out to be far less likely to win a general election than Rove imagines.
He keeps skipping over the part about running them in districts where a Republican cannot win ~ as if Castle didn't win statewide election as a Republican 9 different times proving even a Republican can win statewide in Delaware!
His error ~ and he makes this repeatedly ~ is that he does not believe a Conservative can be perceived as a Republican!
He should visit the WashPost comments columns ~ the Leftwingtards there JUST DON'T CARE! To them the subtle nuance between a Conservative and a Republican is too subtle to be noticed.
My argument about Castle gets down to age (he really is too old) and couth (he was uncouth in this campaign against O'Donnell). Because of his age he'll not run again ~ and by golly much of the value of any Republican candidate 6 years from now is established in today's election. It's best we put our brand on that seat today, if we can, so that we can win it again later on when conditions may not be as generous to us as they are now.

First, you have posted a very interesting title....provocative enough to serve as sound bites for the media and other liberal agents to quote when slamming FR, right?
Second, I hope you realize a few of us have been around the political pike for some years. We have also been around enough years to be pretty good observers of human nature. Mr. Rove's continuing vitriolic attacks on Ms. O'Donnell are not the usual analytical, unimpassioned, factual, sometimes dry observations of a seasoned veteran commentator but almost hysterical ("hysterical" for the tightly-wound Rove, at least) rants coming right from his gut. Something is very wrong with this guy....as a factual commentator, at least....which is what he's knocking himself out now trying to say he is....just to save face.
Many of us realized something OFF with him right from the git-go....it wasn't quite WHAT Rove was saying, but HOW he was saying it. It was definitely out-of-character with eerily nasty, rapid-fire attack bites on the GOP candidate.
I haven't seen the same visceral personal attacks such as Rove's in the discussions, posts and back-and-forth going on here on FR.....although, to be sure, he's taking hard lumps. Nothing wrong with that. Turnabout is fair play in the real world of major league politics.
Just WHY are you making the subject of Rove's obvious dislike for Christine O'Donnell into an opportunity to make it appear FR is a 'hate site'? It appears to me you REALLY wanted to title your insulting post, "Free Republic -- Why Are You Such a Hate Forum?"
I've been here well over a decade....and I've never seen such a denigrating reference to FR in a title....by a Freeper, no less.
The rest of your post is more put-down (of posters enrolled after 2000) and just plain babble.
Also, please don't freepmail me in response just because I've been here prior to 2000....if you have something to say, say it in the open.

The likelihood of response from the poster if a join date is Prior to November 2000 is pretty good but most likely will be in the form of a Private Response largely because most of these Newbies have no since of history that involves intellectual discussion.

Hate is such a strong word, I don't hate Rove anymore than I hate snobs. Everyone is entitled to be both rude and wrong and still not be hated
