Off the top of your head, can you name a situation where Rove endorsed/helped the more Conservative candidate in a GOP primary? You're welcome to go back a decade to research. You can check red states, blue states, DEEP red states, off-year elections, etc. You probably won't find any.
What you'll find is a pattern that is undeniable. Rove, and the GOP establishment for that matter, are always looking to move the Party to the left (or center) with every single seat, in every single race, and in every single state. It does not matter if it is O'Donnell in blue DE (which one could understand, though personally disagree), or Tom Coburn in deep red OK, the more conservative candidate can count on being opposed by Rove and the establishment GOP in favor of someone to their left. It's not limited to blue states or purple states. It happens in EVERY race. They push centrists in places like Utah, South Carolina, and Texas!
Several times in recent months, the candidates they have chosen have been so disloyal to the GOP that they have taken actions to try and ensure the GOP’s defeat (Murkowski, Dede, Crist, et al). You don't see Chuck DeVore or J.D. Hayworth running as Third-Party candidates, do you? The Conservatives stay loyal, the Moderates jump ship, and who gets rewarded?
The problem I have with Karl Rove (and the establishment) is this: he talks the Conservative talk to try and keep the Conservative grassroots on board, regularly voting for GOP Moderates. But I have never seen him try to move this Party to the right - not once, ever. The question these days is not “is there room in the ‘big tent’ for Moderates?” The question since about 2000 is now “is there room in the ‘big tent’ for Conservatives?” It is becoming clear that there may not be room for us, though they will certainly pretend otherwise. Their actions speak louder than their scripts.
They love our votes, our money, and our support; but they despise our candidates. Even when we have the majority, you can count on things like this: If there are 15 Moderates in the GOP-run Senate, those 15 Senators will hold all of the important chairmanships. It will be Arlen Specter, not Jim DeMint, deciding how to proceed on Supreme Court Justices.
Speaking of Supreme Cout Justices.....Ever wonder why J. Michael Luttig never got the call? Here's why: The Chamber objected to one ruling, so he was instantly ruled out as a possibility. The Chamber always gets what they want. Now, did grassroots Conservatives get to face Court openings with that same confidence and no worries? Of Course not. We had to fight like a priest exorcising demons to prevent Bush from nominating two Social Progressives to the Court (Miers, Gonzales). It took an outright REVOLT to stop it from happening.
Do you even want to talk about Sarah Palin? Or the fact that Rove is already trying to thrust the candidate most openly despised by grassroots Conservatives, Mitt Romney, upon us as the 2012 Presidential nominee? Actions like these are what's called “sticking a thumb” in the base's eye. It's a dare, a dare to hold out your vote or support in the face of a Democratic opponent. He/they work to nominate Romney because they proceed with total confidence that they can piss on us and make up for it with a nice speech afterwards, or a token gesture to convince us we're not totally excluded from the party plans.
It's a pattern of behavior, and it is an unrelenting habit.
There is no excuse for backing Liberals and Moderates in deep red states, yet they do it all the time, and in pretty much every contested race. There is no excuse for their disdain for Sarah Palin (or for that matter, Jim DeMint), or their refusal to stand up for her.
You ask why we hate Karl Rove? I don't. But I don't trust the man one bit; and I do not believe he has any interest in advancing Conservative candidates who'll are more than smoke and mirrors when it comes to Conservatism. He is more interested in Moderating the GOP than in advancing Conservatism, period.
There is no attack on Rove. There is a simple recitation of facts. Why does Rove get a free ride to spread his slanderous attacks on O'Donnell from you people? Why is he allowed to demand one set of conduct from his target yet conducts himself in a completely different, much less rigorous, fashion?
No claims of a ‘hidden agenda’ on your part? In your very next post you accusing Rove of ‘sneaking around Deleware’.

I am not giving any free pass. I have stated since ny first post in this thread that I have no problem with conservative criticism of Rove.
But I am not jumping on the band-wagon of the Code Pink type who want to crucify him.
I see no reason to call the tea party folks who reported this liars. Rove doesn’t even deny it. Why would they lie? Some conspiracy to hurt poor Karl?
I call it sneaking because he did not tell any of his viewer that he was doing it. It’s dishonest. He’s a liar. He passed himself off as something he wasn’t - a disinterested observer
Get over yourself. Rove dosen’t have to explain every aspect of his political life in order to give an analysis on Fox. He made it pretty clear that he supported Castle. There is no big cover-up.
Instead of responding with a knee jerk emotional defense of Rove. Address the facts. For example, the fact I never ever at any point accused Rove of "Sneaking around Delaware" that was Dman.
So apparently you are not even thinking about the facts presented you about Rove but merely flaming out emotionally in response to the unpalatable facts about Rove.

I don't think she has to dignify every crazy question with an answer. People know that most of these smear rumors are concocted to divert people from hearing her political and spriritual message. What she ought to do is produce her birth certificate and announce that she will answer some of the other crazy questions when the POTUS catches up with her level of disclosure by showing us HIS birth certificate.
And, who cares what the tutti-fruitis at the Weekly Standard want? Everyone KNOWS what they want - they want a commitment from Christine that she will place the interests of Israel above the interests of the USA. Christine is a patriot and will NEVER give that kind of assurance to anyone.

I can tell you that MNJonnie has been the most stubbornly loyal Republican defender through thick or think of anyone on Free Republic for YEARS. I know, I’ve clashed with him a number of times. If he has had enough you know an important threshold has been crossed.
You cannot hit Coon’s background when you have problems with yours. Coon has an even more target rich background. Time is getting short.

So whether I’m allowed to express my opinion here or not ~ As to Rove, he has a right to choose party over all else, just as we have the right to ignore his opinions on the DE race in general and O’Donnell specifically. To hate anyone based on an opinion expressed such at Rove’s is childish and I doubt there are many FReepers who go that route.
