On what bases do you say Rove is such a brilliant political tactician?

He took a GOP Congressional Majority and possession of the White House and turned it into a absolute political minority.

His only claim to fame is winning 2 Presidential races by the skin of his teeth and being completely wrong in his forecasting before the 2006 and 2008 elections.

Sorry but I see no evidence of any real “genius” from Rove other then that at marketing his reputation

I think that if Castle had won, he probably would have turned out to be a Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords and switched parties.

That Rove has not made full disclose of his connections to the Castle campaign indicates a clear conflict of interest and a deliberate attempt to mislead Fox News and it's viewers.

Even Dick Morris gives a disclaimer when he has a personal or professional connection with someone he is opining on. Must suck for Rove to be less ethical than Morris.

Thanks Dryman. I don’t hate Karl Rove, in fact, I have a heterosexual crush on him, I think he’s terrific. But, as are we all, he’s a human being with flaws. He kicked in a few bucks to rebuild the Republican Party one slate of candidates at a time, and has been overwhelmed by numbers.

“No responses will be given to anyone with out a guarantee by careful review of their previous posts that they are not INFILTRATORS (I was TIN FOIL long before TIN FOIL was cool) .

The likelihood of response from the poster if a join date is prior to November 2004 and after November 2000 is Low; any later need not respond.

The likelihood of response from the poster if a join date is Prior to November 2000 is pretty good but most likely will be in the form of a Private Response largely because most of these Newbies have no since of history that involves intellectual discussion.”

Well, you know what they say: There are people that have twelve years on Free Republic, and there are people that have one year twelve times.

I don't 'hate' the fellow.
But Rove was a known 'squish' from the beginning. He seemed to think it was better to offer up 'luke-warm' spit, in the interest of squeaking out election wins. True, he did squeak out wins against Gore and Kerry (and frankly - I don't consider this any great work of a 'mastermind'. Bush should have won both of those elections in a cakewalk) - but he sacrificed steering the Nation towards conservative sanity, even while the Republicans had control of the Senate AND the House of Representatives AND the White House.
You have to take a position and be 'hot' or 'cold' if you want to lead a nation. He settled for luke-warm spit, and we are where we are. Socialists controlling Congress since 2006, and a strange critter (marxist? incompetent? Kenyan anti-colonialist?) in the White House.

I've enjoyed reading about Rove's occasional blasts against the current White House. But he did the Nation no favors as Bush's Political 'counselor'...

I don’t hate Rove, I’ve just learned that he isn’t always reliably on my side because he likes RINOs.

My problem with Mr Rove is that he never had that kind of passion for attacking liberal charges against Bush. He let most of it go unanswered. Because of that, we lost in 2006 and in 2008.

But he came out swinging against the peoples choice in Delaware. And hasn't stopped. It sounds as if he wants her to lose. And because his choice lost. He asked the Tea Party not to back O'Donnell. They did. She won. He attacked. And continues.

He did not defend Bush but he will defend a liberal Republican. Even if it means losing Delaware. I don't call that being a competent analyst.

Simple: Rove is for the establishment and the status quo over the will of the people.

Inexcusable.

I have no hatred or even dislike for Karl Rove but rather like the man.

He may be a little off base on this recent analysis of his but he still is a solid conservative in my book.

I also have no problem with some conservatives roughing him up a bit. I am sure that Karl has a thick enough skin.

I saw him tonight on the factor and didn’t agree with him but that didn’t make me want to toss him under a bus.

The 9-12 Project published the fact Mr Rove contacted them for the Castle campaign asking them to switch their support to Castle.

Rove was an active agent, even if unpaid, of the Castle camp.

Rove has never acknowledge that connection. He has repeatedly billed himself in his slanderous attacks on O’Donnell as “just a political analyst” giving his “objective opinion”.

That is lying by omission.

That Rove has not made full disclose of his connections to the Castle campaign indicates a clear conflict of interest and a deliberate attempt to mislead Fox News and it’s viewers.

When you know of his connection to the Castle camp, his comments are a whole lot less credible

You make it sound like it is some sort of conspiracy or something.

Rove obviously does not like O’Donnell and decided to support Castle. I do disagree with this action of his but it isn’t enough to make me throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Karl Rove is one of the good guys, imo. If I am wrong time will tell. But there is nothing in this recent line of events I have heard yet that makes me think otherwise.

In addition to what I said above.

I have no problem with conservatives being critical of Rove on this recent chain of events. We all must be suspicious of the established incumbents of the GOP but...

dont throw the baby out with the bathwater.

I do not know Rove so well to know his complete ideological makeup but he has been on the frontlines since even before this current awakening of the people in order to advance the conservative movement.

I don’t believe anyone on these Boards Hates Karl. Disappointed, Yes. But it should be plain as the nose on ones face that Conservatives are not simply going to play Ball with the Dems any longer. And that includes voting for RINOs. Forget reaching across the isle. What exactly did we gain all these years by being Bipartisan ? Nothing ! No Baby ...there is Revolution in the air. So Karl and any other Elite Republican better pick a side and stay on it by supporting Conservative Repub Candidates or get out of the GOP. I’m going to be hunting RINO Nov 2. Support Conservatives ONLY !
