Does this fit under "necessity is the mother of invention"?

I’ve heard of deep fried Coke. Kinda surprised some Texan hasn’t invented this already.

Last year's winner of the Texas state fair fried food competition was a recipe for deep-fried butter.

I thought they’d reached the pinnacle with deep-fried bacon (which is fantastic by the way) dipped in cream gravy.

From the article:
“The beer is placed inside a pocket of salty, pretzel-like dough and then dunked in oil at 375 degrees for about 20 seconds, a short enough time for the confection to remain alcoholic.”

When I first saw the article I assumed it was some sort of beer patter prepared like the “chips” at Captain D’s.

I wonder if this was developed in response to the Mooch-elle Obama’s health food diktats.

I had deep fried meatballs at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo this year and they were great. I'll pass on deep fried oreos and deep fried ice cream though. The competition for best new deep fried whatever is getting way out there.

I actually used the same recipe for batter-dipped deep-fried bacon that guy in Texas (who invented it) used. In fact, I did for a section project in culinary school. Everything down to the cream gravy. Dean, my instructor-chef, thought I was nuts. However, it turned out fine, I got the credit for it, and ended up eating most of it myself...since none of my fellow students would touch it. It was yummy.

Hmm, I figured they made a solid out of it with some stabilizer and then battered it.
