There are lots of "lukewarm" Christians. (Rev. 3:16) These are Christians who go whichever way the wind blows. They don't want to make waves.
This is a characteristic of human nature and something we all must guard against (as Christians).
But seeing as how many Christians are lukewarm (vote democrat, embrace homosexuals [viz. Episcopalians]), would it follow that there are many muslims who similarly don't uphold Islam's murderous tenets?

The Bible has some pretty nasty stuff in it too, doesn’t follow that every Christian takes every word of it seriously though does it? None of my Muslim friends regard women as “property” for the simple reason that their wives wouldn’t put up with it for a second.

Sorry to disagree, but I believe islam is one of satan’s cheap cheesy couterfiet knock-offs of Christianity. As he does with everything, he has the main concept bass-ackwards! He has poor muslims believing that they must die for their god, while in true Christianity, our God died for US.
You suggested that “good” Muslims should be asked to rip offensive passages from the Quran. Would you (were you a Christian or a Jew) be willing to rip pages from the Bible (I.e., ones supporting stoning, etc.)?
There’s lots of muslims that live a secular westernized lifestyle...eat pork, drink beer, don’t pray, etc. I don’t know how hard they would resist if/when the radicals start pushing for sharia law though.

Muslims who follow the Koran can not be at peace with non believers. Islam is incompatible with western values. There can be no compromise or questioning the Koran. It is the word of god and can not be questioned or altered in any way.
How can one believe in the Koran and be a practicing Muslim and live peacefully with non believers? One can not according the the word of god.

There are plenty of muslims that think their holy book shouldn’t be taken literally, just as there are christians that believe the same of the bible.

Of course moderate muslims exist somewhere.
They carry something less than a full automatic weapon under their disguised female clothing
They avoid relations with some goats
They dont run in packs every day of the week
They limit belt bombs to less than 50 kg
Not every word in the presence of infidels is a complete lie
Hiking their rear in the air is not always instantly odorous
Stoning women is reserved only for non-goat days
Someday, although not as of yet, they may suggest that not all killing is always good, and you might see one more sunrise before the knife is thoughtfully taken quickly across your throat
This summary of a good/moderate muslime in todays world is provided as a courtesy in hopes someone might locate one.
Show me ONE mosque where the worshippers file in and sit as families; where the women are not culled out; where the men are not offered the ridiculous fantasy of all those virgins; where jihad is condemned; etc., etc.... then I will consider the notion that there are moderate Muslims. Until then, I’ll continue to see them as they are. A threat to Western society.

We can as Freepers propose to kill all muslims and declare war but can’t explain why we are getting raped at the municipal level for property taxes or increased rate hikes on businesses for affordable interest rates on small business loans. Let’s vote solid Republicans at the local and state levels in the next two years and let out conservative leaders handle this problem. How many Christians would seriously say, "If we let this or that happen the Christian Identity will react violently so we must not do this or that." (Ans: less than one percent, I bet)
Christian Identity and Islamists share much. Both believe in religion over government and both have laws that supersede civil law. Both have used violence though the Islamists are light-years ahead on that count.
