Has anyone heard of a religious group called the "Crabbites" operating in the early 1900's. Only mention of them to my knowledge is in central Indiana and associated with the Stepp Cemetery legends.
Trying to confirm the story or put it to bed for good.

Having lived the first half of my life in that part of the country I can confirm that I’ve heard of them, but I know nothing about them or if they even still exist. Sorry.

Being from this area, and as I recall the legend, they were snake-handling Gypsies who included group sex as part of the “Religious Experience”.
They got ran out by the unhappy locals around the early 20’s, I think.

I would check out some of the local historical societies. Legends dealing with ghost and cemeteries just do not make of reliable history.
If you find out something that is documented I would be interested to hear about it.
