NEW YORK,- A New York auction house said the "Ten Commandments" tablets from the film of the same name and a piece of the Lady Liberty's nose are headed for the block.
Guernsey's Auction House said its Sept. 24 Iconic Objects Auction will include the tablets from the Charlton Heston film, a piece of the Statue of Liberty's nose made but not used during a 1980s restoration and other items, including a falcon statuette made for the Humphrey Bogart film "The Maltese Falcon" and sunglasses once worn by James Dean, the New York Daily News reported Friday.
"Any of these things would be the star of a normal auction," Guernsey's owner Arlan Ettinger said.
The 100 historical and pop culture artifacts up for auction also include blankets from President John F. Kennedy's Dallas limo, a hat Michael Jackson wore on stage in 2002 at New York's Apollo Theater and an IOU for $4,800 written by Frank Sinatra.
The stuff the dreams are made of...
The stuff that dreams are made of...
I thought the 11th Commandment was “Don’t p*ss off Chuck Norris.”
It's kinda like herding kittens around here.
You'll be fine ..................... FRegards
Bogart dropped the first one, made of lead, and damaged the tail feathers. After that, Warner Brothers made some of plastic resin and some of lead - the Maltese Falcon was supposed to be solid gold and it was easier for the actors to 'act' as if they were handling a solid gold falcon when they were passing around the ones made of lead.
My replica is made of plaster . . . which begs the question: Is the stuff dreams are made of lead, plastic resin, or plaster?
I stopped counting the times I've seen The Maltese Falcon at 40, Casablanca at 80. I've seen 68 of his movies at least once and threw an annual Bogart party for years.
If nothing else, everyone should see his Jack Warner 'punishment' film, Swing Your Partner, at least once - a Li'l Abner-style hillbilly, professional wrestling, musical. I kid you not.
And his comes with oh-so-stylish fringe. And they're made of the softest, most comfortable black leather.
Umm . . . not that I've been to the Casto Street Festival and priced that particular any vests. Or tried anything on.
I think I must have read about it or something. Yeah, I read about it.
"Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?"
