Yeah, it is very strange. I remember when TWA 800 went down there were many witnesses who claimed to see a missile. Turns out the plane blew up do to a spark in the center fuel tank that was most likely caused by static electricity. Weird, it was about the same time when I stopped believing everything that got reported.

A massive fire possibly caused by a high-pressure gas line roared through a mostly residential neighborhood in the San Francisco suburb of San Bruno, destroying at least a dozen homes.

A white and black plume of smoke was visible for miles.
