What is the difference? (Koran burning question)

Posted on 09/08/2010 1:32:47 PM PDT by djf

Now I've seen numerous threads and statements saying that we shouldn't burn the Koran.

And while a few of them have mentioned respect for another religion and that kind of thing, ALL OF THEM have focused on the same hypothetical: If you burn it, they will kill us. (Or somebody).

So my question is exactly what is the difference between what is now being talked about, and say for instance a Muslim father goes to his daughter and tells her "If you hold that boys hand we will have an honor killing and hang you from a tree."

I recall back to the days when people were burning the American flag, and there was a strong movement to ban it. Don't get me wrong here. But my feelings about this subject are that I would NEVER burn an American flag (with the exception that burning a flag is considered to be the proper disposal of a torn one) EXCEPT about the time the government commands me that I can't do it, I would say "Fire up the grill!!"

Sorry about the vanity, but I am seriously worried that this is not just a little bit of incremental sliding PC bullcrap, we are seeing some kind of fundamental change here.

What's to stop any group anywheres in the world from making demands and having some unspoken but implied threat against Americans, and expecting we will bow down again?

It is awfully presumptuous of someone in other countries to make threats based on what an individual does in America.

Is there some basis for Muslims complaining about treatment of the Koran in every single place on Earth?

Not being a Muslim, it seems to me I can do whatever I please with a copy of the Koran. Don’t need to burn it, won’t tolerate threats against me if I do.

They expect us to bow down; because Pres Jughead bows down to everyone he encounters. He can’t help it that he’s a girl-man type of coward.

When you see the leader of a country acting like an effiniate gay man, looking for a date - well, you assume you can boss around the country that put that pansy in charge.

While Obama may love Liberace, emulating his mannerisms is not the way to convey strength and determination to those who oppose us.

Reminds me...did he bow to Netanyahu? I'd like to see a picture of that.

So, when they invaded the American embassy and kidnapped our people and held them prisoners while they marched in the streets and chanted Death to America, it was because we had burned a book?

They blew up the Marine barracks in Beirut because we burned a book?
They attacked the USS Cole because we burned a book?
They attacked and murdered people in our African embassies because we burned a book?
They flew planes into our civilian buildings because we burned a book?
They murdered those aid workers & doctors in Afghanistan because we burned a book?

How silly is this argument & how stupid are our people even while they are under outright attack by a fascist ideology that is determined to kill us all?

My inclination is to say “Burn every single copy you can get your hands on!!”

And I admit it’s somewhat of a teenage type reaction to being told he can’t do something.

But what Islam proposes and works for in America (and the rest of the world) is far worse than that little spat we had with King George a while back.

Are we that emasculated now that we just take this lying down?

It's cowardly to react to some crazed "pastor's" burning of a book based on the FEAR that it will incite Islamist to hate us more than they already do.

Maybe we should make sure we don't publish any cartoons that offend them ... or allow them ot operate under sharia law instead of our laws ...because to do different would offend them.

Where was the outrage in this country when the army confiscated bible in Afghanistan and burned them for fear of offending Muslims.

Linky Thing: Bibles Burned

These assclowns do NOT have the right to not be offended. Period. End. of. Story.

The fact that this act by the "pastor" of a group of 2 dozen people has become a world outrage speaks volumes about the agenda of those who have made it the "hugh and series" issue it has become.

I heard a fellow on the radio the other night talking about the American revolution.

He called it a lesson, an “exercise in dissent”.

Americans dissented against just about everything!
They would not think of allowing themselves to be told what to do or how to do it.
And that attitude, that rawness, that enterprise and thinking-for-yourself way of life was a big part of the great UNBEATABLE strength that built our fair land!

I see us surrendering more and more of it every day.

The argument about the entire situation is who or what is protected. The White House is making a special appeal to Muslims.

This back woods yahoo in Gainesville is not serving any purpose other than media attention. If you want to burn a Koran, go for it. I won’t stop ya. Just stay off the news before you do it.

When it comes to our government, we have gone from the "home of the brave" to the "cowards corner of the world".

Obviously, getting elected to office involves some clandestine castration ritual somewhere along the way, 'cause there's not enough balls in Washington for a good game of marbles.

In fact, the only ones they are NOT afraid of in Washington are Christian Caucasions...as they don't see us as a threat to their royal thrones.

Congress seems to be easily bluffed. Someone makes a threat, and growls a little bit, they head for the hill...Capitol Hill.

Look at the yellow-bellys who wimped out on town hall meetings this last year...scared little marys who didn't want to answer any questions.

Most of them think like obama does - if they give the terrorists what they want and appease them, they'll play nice. Well, achmadinnerjacket and those other muslim dictators have already disproved that theory, a theory most of us learned from the class bully in 3rd grade.

They want to hand us (America) over to islam, and hope that it's two-for-one day at the Virgin Cafe', and they'll end up with 144 virgins instead of 72.

They don't realize they'll become the shortest guy in Congress...without a head, that is.

America didn't get strong by hiding in a gopher hole everytime someone snarls at us. I hear young people bitching about how my generation "used up" all the resources and didn't "leave any for them."

The true story is, there are still plenty of resources, but none of these people have the balls to fight for them. They're waiting on someone to deliver the goodies on a silver platter rather than going out and earning it, or digging for it.

If they want to become eunuch servants for a bunch of muslims later, then they are headed in the right direction.

When these people that are members of this muslim religion finally start to, and succeed in policing their own. Only then should be even think about worrying about their feelings. Until then as far as i am concerned every one of them is part of their plan to dominate the world. I say we just get it over with and nuke mecca and a dozen or so other of their holy cities. We are at war even though that dumb ass in the white house and his henchmen don't realize it. When will finally hear the politicians here demand that they start to police their own people? Instead we hear excuses and watch as our kids get shot up and die. It is time America demanded under threat that they police their own peoples or all be treated the same. No more veils no sharia and certainly no more free money.
