Boeing has gone on a building spree for its Next-Generation 737, with already-announced plans to increase the production rate from 31.5 planes a month to 35 planes in early 2012.

Today (Thursday) Boeing announced that it would increase production yet again to meet worldwide demand, to 38 planes a month in the second quarter of 2013.”

“Patch as Patch can: New websites hiring Md. journalists”

SNIPPET: “As other news organizations shrink, there is a new, fast-growing media operation in Maryland called Patch.com that has hired more than 50 journalists in the last few months.

Funded by AOL to the tune of $50 million a year nationwide, Patch.com is now in 11 states. The company has already launched 18 sites in Maryland with another 32 being rolled out over the next few months.

Patch.com is a network of “hyperlocal” news websites, which focus on small geographic areas. The emphasis is on local news and service features — with a heavy dose of food, shopping and directories — in addition to traditional news and features.”

SNIPPET: “The Florida Manufacturing Extension Partnership parked its mobile training unit outside of the Haynes Corp., a Naples-based manufacturer of precision diesel fuel injection systems.

The extension partnered with the Economic Development Council of Collier County and has given 10 Collier residents spots in the intensive, two-week job training and placement Mobile Outreach Skills Training program.

Participants receive the latest manufacturing training, and the promise of permanent employment with one of the three companies following successful completion of the session, which include the Haynes, Pelican Wire and Thomas Riley Artisans’ Guild.

“We plan to hire six people following this training,” said Dan Neely, director of manufacturing for Haynes. “Our new hires will be able to come in, work alongside some of our seasoned employees and basically speak the same language on the very first day.””
