I just started getting notices from my email service for failure to deliver mail I didn't send; to addresses I dont recognize and apparently (according to Yahoo mail) dont exist. Is this a scam? All the addresses that are reportedly non existant are to Yahoo email addresses.
Any Ideas appreciated!
I will try changing my email password. Good to know other people have seen this. MUCH APPRECIATED
Heard, understood, acknowledged.
Change your passwords on any banking you do online.
Good idea to change your passwords on any account where you make purchases.
Also check your credit card accounts, etc.
Yep, it’s a scam, so don’t click on ANY of the links.
Someone got a virus and sent an email forged with your address as the sender, and it bounced. Happens all the time.
Remember, FRiend; miles to go before you sleep.
Telefon. Excellent movie!
Regards,
Make up a ridiculous name with an e-mail address guaranteed to bounce. Mine is Turd Ferguson (from an SNL skit). As long as I don’t get a bounceback from him, I’m okay. ;)
That’s how I know if it’s my computer or not.
sounds like a virus...my stepson “sent” me an email selling viagra, and then I found my email was doing the same thing, since by opening his email I got infected.
Cure? Change your password.
Perhaps your Yahoo mail has been hacked. It happened to my son’s Hotmail account. About a month ago I got an email from him with only a link to a website selling viagra and cialis. It thought it was rather strange he would be sending such a link to his MOM, so I emailed back to ask if he sent it or if his account had been hacked. He had over 500 returned messages sent from his account. He changed his password and hasn’t had a problem since.
I had this issue - changing my password was enough to fix it - the email account had been hijacked but not my computer.
Someone stole your password and is sending spam e-mail from your account.
At the very least, change your password.
You may have to close this account and change it to something else, because your own e-mails you send may be blocked as spam, as a result of the spammer taking over your account.
Do a search for “joe job” - you’ll get a full explanation of how it works.
BTW, if you’re using Outlook, one of the best things you can do is get another email program, as Outlook will guarantee that you’re going to get some nasty malware no matter how good your anti-virus or anti-malware scans are. It hasn’t been patched, can’t be patched and won’t be patched to make it safer.
Same here. My junk filters catch a lot of stuff "sent by me" to me, as well...mainly poorly spelled offers for pills, potions, or lotions that all purportedly have the same purpose.
For years, I religiously erased all "to:..." addresses off of any forwards I pass on; and always send anything to multiple recipients using the BCC option exclusively. Wish those sending on stuff from me would return the favor and erase my 'from' addy, also.
All your email are belong to us !
Another freeper has a virus in his e-mails, too, you NEED to make sure your anti-virus is up to date AND RUNNING ALL THE TIME
and full scans NOW
