Dems can't blame Bush for ObamaCare
The Hill ^ | 9-3-10 | Cheri Jacobus

Posted on 09/06/2010 11:45:26 AM PDT by Justaham

While the trifecta of stimulus/bailouts/ObamaCare is what is mostly touted as the explanation for the waning Democratic political fortunes, ObamaCare is the mother-lode of straws that broke the camel's back and crushed it. Democrats know this, but can't acknowledge it. Why? Because they can't blame ObamaCare on George W. Bush. And that leaves them with nothing, and nowhere to hide.

What's surprising to me about this renewed push to blame Bush for the Democrats' election-year problems now is not that they are using it as a desperate Hail Mary pass. It's been obvious for quite some time they pull that out of their back pocket when backed into a corner. No — what's so surprising to me, and also very, very telling, is that they are throwing this Hail Mary pass before Labor Day, rather than in the final three or four weeks of the campaign. This means their internal polling is scarier than what the rest of us are privy to, and they know they have little wiggle room and nowhere to run. They searched every nook and cranny, but can't win new voters or change any minds, so they must try to compete in the Election Day voter-turnout game by getting the Bush-hating far-left wing of the party angry and energized, and blaming Bush is all they have in their arsenal — even when their arguments make no sense at all.

Democrats may have been able to skate by with a "blame Bush" strategy had they only gouged the American people with the stimulus bill and the bailouts. But for more than a year, voters have been telling (and yes, even yelling at) their elected officials that they did not want ObamaCare.

Not that such a small detail can stop them from trying...

Awww cmon dems, get creative. Try this.

For 8 years the Bush admin ignored health care and allowed a bad situation to get worse and worse until emergency legislation was needed to save it. If it wasn’t for Bush we would not have had to pass Obamacare.

Yeah, thats the ticket, give it a go dems, what have you got to lose?

LOL!

Exactly what I was going to post. It never stopped them in the past. The truth of anything has never meant anything to these people.

Even casual political observers could tell you that the Rats go again and again to the "blame Bush" well. (I believe in Laura Bush's new book she recounts that around their home now if something goes wrong, such as the toast gets burned, someone hollers "It's Bush's fault!)

Anyway. This author, however, has explained the true political meaning of the "blame Bush" strategy. It has one target and goal in mind: energizing Bush haters, i.e., the Far Left (the ones Baghdad Gibbsy said should be drug tested).

Therefore, "blaming Bush" doesn't have to make sense in the broader political context. It is purely a crass, almost Pavlovian emotional appeal to haters.

I think that photo of Queen Nancy with that stupid cheshire grin on her face as she carries that huge ceremonial gavel across the street captures everything that this article points to about voters’ thinking on Obamacare.

In another article, Dick Morris said that the Republicans did not need to explain anything or use any negative language in their ads. All they had to do was say “Obamacare” over and over, because voters know everything that means, both to them and to our country.

they will however be able to blame ghwb when they cut the piss out of his ridiculous medicare prescription drug program.

i have, and i attest here before god and man it aint pretty.

this is the new reality of what those in this republic still willing to make front must stand against.

The Democrats took control of Congress in November 2006 (when the economy was still booming by the way).

If the economy is all Bush’s fault, what the hell were the Democrats doing in Congress for the past 4 years?
