Hope I don't get banned but I am sick and tired of free republic acting like nothing is going on!! Either we are under attack or the equipment is inadequate, I hate that there are no posts about the curent issue.
If Free Republic was a liberal or even a libertarian forum it could exclude Christianity, but it is IMPOSSIBLE for a conservative forum to exclude Christianity.
i knew more trouble was a comin’ . ;)
;)
Please sit down in a solid chair.
Take a calm breath or two.
. . .
drum roll . . .
. . .
I AGREE WITH YOU 100%.
It wasn’t even painful.
LOL.

Was this meant to be a joke?
You’re a little late to the party. I think that many here, and I assume you as well, disagree with my point of view on the separation of church and FR. Many here think that I am a Christian-bashing, lying piece of human debris that God should strike down this instant. Be well and be happy, this may be the only life we get.

Why do you think that religion should not be a part of FR? I don't understand that viewpoint at all. Let me tell you this, that I am a Catholic who believes in God and the Church, but that does not mean that I don't have the occasional crisis of faith. We are all human, and subject to doubt.
I like a good theological argument as well as the next guy, I just think that a Christian or other religious website would be the place for that kind of discussion.
I,too was raised Catholic. I was an altar boy when the Latin Mass was still celebrated, I can still recite the "Suscipiot" (thanks to another freeper for correcting my spelling on this, I hope it isn't still wrong, it's not worth the work for me to check)I'm maybe not your typical agnostic, yet I am just that.
I'm tired of typing, it will just get misrepresented yet again. Go ahead and hate me, your opinions of me will not change my day to day enjoyment of life...which I credit in no small part to my clean conscience.
I don’t hate you, FRiend. I don’t understand your viewpoint, but I don’t hate you.
Thanks for your kind and thoughtful response. I do appreciate it.
Have a wonderful week end. :)
Really?
I remember about three and a half years ago when a bunch of long-time FReepers were pushing Rudy and complaining that conservatives had had their "feet on the neck" of the GOP for too long. Were the Rooty Rooters conservative?
Is belief in the sanctity of human life a conservative view or is it just a Christian belief?
Is belief in the sanctity of marriage a conservative view or is it just a Christian belief?
Maybe my memory is defective, that is happening more and more these days. Unfortunately, my opinions are derived from my memory, defective or not. A good Christian would humor me.
I wasn't asking whether or not you remembered something, so there is no need for humor.
I asked for you OPINION on a few issues, here they are again:

OK then. I would answer conservative to both of those questions. I am a strict-constructionist...a true believer of the Constitution. John Adams was our first liberal president and he royally screwed things up when he packed the courts after his loss to Jefferson. He appointed Marbury, of Marbury v. Madison that gave all power to the Supreme Court. I’m sorry if I didn’t answer your question...if not, please reiterate and I’ll try to focus.
Oops, missed the first question... Conservative is defined differently by different people. Rudy is not conservative by my definition, but my definition is far stricter than most.
Congress passed what was known as the "Midnight Judges" Act which Adams signed and William Marbury was appointed to a five year term as a justice of the peace. I fail to see how this makes Adams a liberal.

Then why do you oppose Christian influence on conservatism?
The GOP was founded on TWO conservative Christian issues: the belief that slavery was immoral and barbaric and the belief in the sanctity of marriage.
By what possible definition is Rudy a conservative?
I don't oppose the Christian influence on conservatism. I just want to get past that and focus on the conservatism....no matter what it was influenced by.
Why would you value an answer to that from me?
Then why did you claim there had been a "Christian abduction" of FR?
I wouldn’t have asked if I wasn’t interested in your response.
