I had an alcoholic friend die a couple of years ago. His body was so damaged by the alcohol abuse that even though he was found the next day (by his brother, poor guy) he was already pretty high. They put him in the morgue freezer, and you could still smell the decay in the hospital hallway hours later.
So yes, I can see the poor woman getting pretty odiferous in two days, especially in California in the summer.
