The announcement today of a newfound group of alien planets orbiting a distant star has added another candidate for the growing list of potential Earth-sized worlds beyond our own solar system.
Astronomers still have to confirm the presence of the possible Earth-sized world. But they suspect it has a radius just 1.5 times that of Earth, which would make it the smallest alien planet yet found, if confirmed.

I can prove that time cannot exist in heaven. Therefore you and I are actually both here on earth (a dimension with space and time) and in heaven simultaneously.
This is why a soul cannot be scientifically discovered. A soul is nothing more than a link to your spirit that is in heaven right now. It has no mass and therefore is not bound to the physics of this dimension.

You do know that the Earth is round and the Sun does not orbit Earth....
Does that mean I have to cancel my membership in the flat earth society...
No... you think of time as directly proportional to the rotation rate of the third planet from our sun... a digital clock or an analog wrist watch or a sundial... but it is not.
Time is merely an illusion that we require to understand the reality of the senses that we have available.
As of yet we have no True way to measure “Time” for we do not know what “Time” is anymore than we know what “Gravity” is ... we can use it and measure it but past that... it is still a fascinating question.
Eternity is a measure of time, yet unmeasurable, yet understandable.
Faith and Science will always be inseparable just to be understandable.
JMHO =)

Bring back Pluto as a planet! Then we can discus planetlets or just some more icy spheres!
They recently found out that gravity is just distortion in spacetime caused by mass. Pretty simple, really. You may be right about time. It seems to move at different rates relative to how fast something is moving (demonstrated with atomic clocks). And mass has an effect on time, as well. A supermassive black hole almost stops time relative to an observer outside the event horizon.
[I prefer hyperspace technology or a Stargate would be even better... ]
Just give me a goa’uld cargo vessel and I could have loads of fun visiting Alpha Centari on the weekends....
Cannot run out of time. There is infinite time. You are finite. Zathras is finite. This
is wrong tool.
“Somebody better get to work on some kind of warp drive or something. I aint getting any younger.”
Especially if one of these planets are full of those green-skin Orion dancing slave girls.
But then again even if we could get there now, my wife wouldnt let me keep one.
So God created the entire vast universe, just to wipe it out on account of us? God is perfect, but he created imperfect beings, and the fate of the universe he created hinges on us being perfect and sin free?
Sometimes I wonder if Christians really insult God more than they praise him.
The first thing you have to accept is that God is infinite and the universe is not; therefore, any appeals to the size of the universe arguing against His existence are moot. As a Christian, I do believe that man and this universe are inextricably, ontologically intertwined, else why bother with a physical resurrection.
The key thing here, scientifically speaking, is entropy. Even if you are an atheist, you must know the universe as we know it has an expiration date. As God encompasses time and is not subject to it, what difference is it to Him if that date is fifty years from now or fifty billion? I personally believe entropy is original sin. God created this physical universe, made it subject to us, and we broke it.
Through the coming of Jesus Christ, God has repaired our broken spirit, but this physical world must still be saved from the ravages of entropy. That is why the bible says God will create a new Heaven and a new Earth for our resurrected bodies- the universe Adam and Eve could have had had they not sinned.
Timeline wise no one knows when any of this will happen. Maybe Christ will come tomorrow, or maybe in a million years when mankind has colonized the whole sky as once we spread over this tiny globe. It’s very well possible that the apocalypse will be played out against the very heat death of the universe. We can’t know.
But it’s awfully fun to speculate :-)
If we had taken the tens of billions that we’ve spent on “social programs,” and instead used it to fund research into space travel, as opposed to wasting it an attempt to bring segments of the population up to a minimum level of civilization...Mars would probably be an option right now.
I agree! Fortunately, NASA got the New Horizons mission off before Pluto was demoted.
