Aside from one comment reminding us all that the snakes are a protected species, most of the comments sound like Freepers

Pigs eat snakes. If you have a poisonous snake infestation, get a pet pig.

I moved to Texas from Michigan in 1975. I bump into a lot of people who think that rattlesnakes are all over the place down here. However, in these many years I have seen only four snakes outside a zoo, and only one was alive, well, before the truck in front of me ran over him.
I camp and hike -- four snakes ain't bad.

When a friend of mine was a teenager, he and some other guys were playing catch with a copperhead and it bit him on the arm. His arm swelled to the size of his thigh.

Protected species my @$$. I have a .38 with rat-shot that has killed dozens of rattlers. Even if there is a type that is 'protected', the three S rule applies.

Good luck checking the yard, if they're in the leaves and don't move you probably won't see them. The Florida version is the Dusky Pygmy Rattler. I've killed several of them at the County Arboretum and in my yard, I know what to look for, in my experience most people don't.
Why one of the volunteer gardeners at the arboretum hasn't been hit is beyond me, God must really love them.

He was 7. That’s 2 years younger than I was when I tried to grab a water moccasin. My parents took me and the snake to the hospital (the snake for identification). I got anti-venom and tetanus shots and then a surgeon spent over an hour removing broken snake teeth and fangs from my wound. That was 54 years ago in Annapolis, Maryland.
