i had problems with win 7, so i copied my files off, and did a reinstall of win 7. i'm using 64 bit.

now picassa will not download my cell phone photos, and ie will not allow me to upload my pc photos as an attachment.

a balloon appeared offering to download active x, but failed.

thanks, ken

Try proper capitalization. Computers like that sometimes.

First, use the Windows update feature and get your machine current. When you changed from 32 bit to 64 bit, you changed EVERYTHING. So, get the latest and greatest before you chase your tail. Make sure you select the text that shows the non-critical files. This is where the updated device drivers and non-critical files will be. Chances are very high you NEED these too.

Next, download DirectX and install it. I would recommend the version for Gamers - I'd rather you have something you don't need, than have something missing you do need.

Re-download Picassa, and make sure you pull down the 64 bit version.

Odds are that you are missing some 64 bit drivers.

Ken,
I’d try downloading Active X directly. If IE won’t do it, see if you can Download Mozilla (Mozilla.org) and download/install Active X from there. You may want to try the ‘repair’ feature of 7 or go to Help and Support (In the Start Menu) and try the trouble shooting features there. Kinda sounds like 7 is not completely at home on your computer yet. Good luck.

I would also you add some freebies to your arsenal to protectyour PC from future problems.

1. Microsoft Security Essentials
2. Spybot - Search and Destroy
3. Ad aware by Lavasoft

All 3 are free, all 3 cross-cover you from viri, trojans and malware. All three have a ‘small footprint’ in that they do NOT kill your machine.

Personally, I would uninstall or get a refund on some products, such as Norton (Symantec) 360,Defender and McAffie. These are resource hogs that will cripple your machine’s performance, cost you money and work no better than the freebies I’ve listed above.

Not to hijack the thread, but here’s another problem with Win 7 - ever since installing, every time I click the Internet icon, I get an error box from “Efax Messenger Plus” which says:

“JSDVWSDK.DLL
Cannot find this file.
Please verify that the correct path and file name are given.”

Anybody know what’s going on, and what has Efax Messenger Plus got to do with anything???

Are you logged in?

Sorry, I had to ask. If you don't get the joke, don't worry.

Others have suggested you should download the 64-bit version, but there does not appear to be a separate version. The 32-bit version should work just fine.

But, if you haven't done so already -- do reinstall it.
