This was one of my favs I got for Christmas - the 1966 Mattel Sonic Blaster - a bazooka that could damage (i.e. obliterate) your friend's eardrum from at least 10 ft away - depending on how many times you pumped it:

Clackers! In 6th and 7th grade, you could not walk 10 feet down a hall in my school without dodging those things flying around. I feel bad for kids today, no one lets them have any real fun with semi dangerous stuff.

Man, I had Creepy Crawlers and one of those guns too. I had the best toy rifle in the neighborhood because of that one. We used to dip caps in our go-kart’s gas tank and then hit it with a hammer too. Our playground’s were made out of concrete and asphalt and our parents had no idea where we were for most of the day. Awesome stuff.
