With pomp and panoply befitting a visit from a foreign dignitary, ABC raised the curtain on its newly revamped "This Week" program and introduced in a big way the superstar who's taken it over in a big, big way: Christiane Amanpour, veteran CNN foreign correspondent now uneasily relocated to a desk job.
-snip-
Perhaps in keeping with the newly globalized program, the commendable "In Memoriam" segment ended with a tribute not to American men and women who died in combat during the preceding week but rather, said Amanpour in her narration, in remembrance of "all of those who died in war" in that period. Did she mean to suggest that our mourning extend to members of the Taliban?

So Clinton’s war whore has got another paying gig. Great, another show I don’t watch now and won’t in the future.
That name Amanpour pops up and my TV automatically turns to something else ~ She is an exceedingly hateful hag.
Should have given that job to John Stossel (before he left for FOX Business) or Jake Tapper.
“She is an exceedingly hateful hag.”
Exceedingly decietful as well.
Tapper deserved that job like no other.
I thought Tapper did an admirable job, far better than Stephenopolous. But, I think John Stossel - especially if they let him be John Stossel - would have generated an audience that may have doubled Meet the Depressed. That show would have been ratings GOLD - which goes to show you it's not about ratings and money to these network execs, it's about advocating for their political ideology.
Christiane Amanpour's existing CNN show (prior to leaving CNN), was one of the least watched shows on CNN, which is the least watched cable network, and yet this is the person they tap for that seat. It's ridiculous.
I liked Jake Tapper....I HATE Jamie Rubin’s wife.
Somehow, that the War Slut would do that to “In Memoriam” totally doesn’t surprise me.

Sometimes when the great ones pass, we ought to let go of their programs as well. It was stupid for ABC to attempt to carry on with "This Week", especially installing the non-objective Step-on-all-of-us, he's in the chair he fits now. I have not tuned in since the death of David Brinkley ... and have missed nothing whatever.
WHO made this awful decision??
They're expecting the money to come later through political payoffs and favored treatment.
"...Did she mean to suggest that our mourning extend to members of the Taliban?..."Knowing that lady and her love of muslim/arab terrorists, Yes.
And he used “panoply” in an unusual and a correct way. Good column.
I would imagine it was made by David Westin, President of ABC News. I don't know if he would have had any input from his boss, who I think is a woman named Anne Sweeney.
Amanpour makes George Stephanopoulous look like Jesse Helms.
This could also be a pretty big boon to a show like Fox News Sunday, too. I would have to surmise that their ratings could go up.
If you would look up old school journalism on the internet, I’m pretty sure a picture of David Brinkley would be there. They don’t make them like him anymore. When he did the show and they would cut to his face, it would reek of skepticism as a politician was talking.
